Navan Inc. (NASDAQ: NAVN) is buying BoomPop, an AI-powered meetings and events platform that Inc. named one of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The deal comes after Navan’s second quarter FY27 results showed steady enterprise momentum, and it builds on an existing partnership between the two companies announced earlier this year.
The timing is notable. Navan just reported adjusted net income of $14 million for the quarter, reversing a $8 million loss in Q2 FY26. Subscription revenue grew 39% year over year, and usage revenue rose 35%. The company also closed a deal to acquire Smartrips, a travel management firm, to boost its position in Latin America.
BoomPop’s Numbers
BoomPop launched in 2023 and handles end-to-end event management through AI. That means venue selection, vendor sourcing, contractual agreement, and payments, all in one package. The company says it has organized events reaching roughly 250,000 participants at companies like Accenture, Amazon, Google, Salesforce, and Shopify.
It also claims to lower customer booking expenses by nearly 30% on average, across gatherings from small 15-person meetups to conferences hosting thousands.
The Strategic Push
Navan has made meetings and events a focus area. By fully integrating BoomPop’s staff and technology, Navan hopes to expand its current operations, speed up product development, and meet growing customer demand.
The deal extends an existing alliance. Navan and BoomPop announced their partnership in February, and now the relationship is moving from collaboration to ownership.
A Long List of Mergers
BoomPop is not Navan’s first acquisition this year. The company recently combined with Smartrips, Comtravo, Reed & Mackay, and Tripeur. Adding BoomPop to that list extends Navan’s already extensive history of operational integrations.
Integrating systems, personnel, and customer bases at scale creates vulnerabilities around technical glitches, operational disruptions, service delays, or cultural misalignments. Navan’s history of operational integrations is already substantial, and the latest announcement will add to that burden.
What Comes Next
Navan’s strategy is straightforward. It is riding enterprise momentum from its second quarter results, entering collaborative agreements with leading companies like Enbridge, Ingersoll Rand, Cummins, and Evotec, and now adding BoomPop to its portfolio.
The company’s path forward includes:
- Full integration of BoomPop’s staff and technology
- Expansion of current meetings and events operations
- Acceleration of product development timeline
- Satisfaction of growing customer interest
Navan also plans to deliver a more seamless experience covering travel, expense, meetings, and events.
The Risk Factor
Navan’s history of operational integrations is already extensive, and the latest announcement adds to that weight.
Whether the acquisition pays off depends on execution. Navan needs to integrate BoomPop smoothly, keep its existing customers happy, and extend its AI capabilities into new areas without disrupting its core travel and expense business.
The risk is real, but so is the opportunity. Navan has momentum in its quarterly numbers and partnerships with major companies. BoomPop brings an established AI-powered platform and a proven track record of growth.
