A multitude gathered within a darkened theater, their eyes fixed upon a vast screen whereon a championship contest doth unfold.

AMC Theaters will broadcast the 2026 Rocket League World Championship Finals at 50 cinemas across the United States. The event streams live from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday, September 20.

Twenty teams will compete for a $300,000 top prize out of a $1.2 million pool. The broadcast lasts about eight hours. Passes are on sale now, priced at $19.49 in person or $22.18 online.

The Big-Screen Setup

Fans at participating AMC locations will watch the Finals on theater screens instead of a home display.

AMC is also matching the Twitch experience. Viewers who normally earn drops by watching on Twitch can get the same rewards through commemorative Rocket League tickets. Those passes include codes to redeem the drops.

Only a limited number of theaters are showing the Finals, and admission is selling fast. The 15th Rocket League World Champions will be crowned at the close of the day.

What AMC Says

Ellen Copaken, SVP of Business Development for AMC Theatres, framed the event as a shared experience.

“Such a big part of the magic of movie theatres is their ability to bring people together for unforgettable shared experiences, and a live event like the Rocket League World Championship is a great example of that.”

“We’re excited to give fans the opportunity to watch esports’ biggest stage unfold live on massive screens, surrounded by fellow Rocket League fans,” Copaken said in a press release.

Prior Esports Screenings

Theaters have hosted esports before. Last year, the League of Legends Worlds Finals in Chengdu, China, played in select cinemas across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Riot also screened the Valorant Champions Paris Finals in certain theaters throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

AMC’s Broader Push

The broadcast is the latest step from AMC beyond standard films. The company recently founded a film distribution arm to help smaller movies reach theaters.

Low-budget projects like Obsession and Markiplier’s Iron Lung have drawn audiences. AMC is now leaning into that trend while adding live esports to its lineup.
