Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have opened a demo of Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, letting players see an early version of the dark action-RPG ahead of its 4th March 2027 release. The demo includes a full Changban level, a character creation system still in progress, and online multiplayer for up to three players.
The Release Date and Platforms
The game lands worldwide on 4th March 2027. It launches on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Xbox. The demo runs on all those platforms, and the final game will also appear on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Changban and the Demo’s Level
The demo lets players walk through the “open field of Changban,” which is described as an entire level from the game. You fight alongside Liu Bei’s army against the forces of Cao Cao, meeting demons inspired by Chinese legends along the way.
Finishing the demo rewards players with a Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the full game. That helmet is a nod to Team Ninja’s earlier work on Nioh.

The Story and Setting
The game picks up in 208 AD, after the events of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The village of the main character and their friend, Pang Tong, is destroyed by Cao Cao’s forces as they move to invade Jing Province. Demons roam freely as the land falls into war.
The protagonist seeks revenge and clears the way for Liu Bei in his fight against Cao Cao’s forces. Later, they join Sun Quan in Jiangdong, where they meet again with Pang Tong to plan a push against Cao Cao’s advance on the Red Cliffs.
Combat and Skills
Team Ninja describes the combat system as a mix of attack and defence with evolved actions unique to this sequel. Players use Insight Skills to avoid enemy attacks, use the terrain to launch counterattacks, and shift the momentum when outnumbered.
The studio says the fights are “even more acrobatic, exhilarating, and deadly than ever before.”
Gamescom Impressions
The writer played the demo at Gamescom and came away impressed. They describe the game as a kind of nexus point for everything Team Ninja has learned from working on Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive.
