Southeast Texas stands to see a greater chance of needed rain Wednesday and Thursday, driven by tropical moisture. Showers will come through the area in scattered fashion over the next several days.
The warm air moving in from the tropics is expected to bring the best chance of rain for the rest of the week to parts of Southeast Texas on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures, however, will stay high.
Rain Chances Rise in the Middle of the Week
The chances for rain will be highest below I-10, particularly over the coastal counties, where showers may form. Houston and its immediate surroundings stand to see the strongest storms, with the heaviest activity expected in and around the city from noon until 3 p.m.
Wednesday brings a small chance of showers, with some of the stronger storms capable of delivering a brief burst of precipitation. The odds of rain on that day stand at 40%.
The rain should dissipate sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Thursday Holds Similar Odds
Thursday’s chances remain at 40%, but Friday and the weekend see the odds fall to 30%.
Several days will bring scattered showers, with the chances of rain being highest early in the week.
Hot Afternoons Continue
Temperatures will stay above normal for the next 10 days. Afternoon highs will reach the low-to-mid 90s.
With humidity factored in, the temperature will register above the hundred mark. The heat index will reach 100.

No Cool Front This Week
There is no cold front expected to arrive within the next 10 days. A late arrival remains possible during the final 10 days of September.

The city will endure storms during the afternoon heat, a period that corresponds to the warmest hours of the day.
