Electronic Arts has confirmed that Apex Legends’ next crossover event will bring Street Fighter 6’s cast into the game. The event, titled Apex Legends vs Street Fighter 6, starts Sept. 22 and runs through Oct. 13, just one month before the new Street Fighter film hits theaters.
Wildcard Mode Explained
The centerpiece of the crossover is a new mode called Wildcard. Instead of shooting at each other, players pick from four Street Fighter characters and use melee attacks to take down enemies. Collecting coins fills a Fighter Gauge, which lets you enter Fighter Form and unlock more special abilities.
The four characters in Wildcard are:
| Character | Moves |
|---|---|
| Ryu | Fast movement, Hadokens at range, Shin Shoryuken uppercut |
| Chun-Li | Wall-running melee attacks, Kikoken projectiles, charged Kikosho blast |
| Akuma | Gou Hadoken fireballs from range, Shun Goku Satsu finisher |
| Dhalsim | Low-gravity floating, Yoga Teleport, Yoga Sunburst from above |
The mode takes place on a remixed version of the Olympus map, packed with nods to Capcom’s series. The final round is called Showdown, and it grants the remaining players an infinite Fighter Gauge so the game ends on an explosive note.
The Eight New Skins
Eight new Iconic skins give Apex Legends characters a Street Fighter makeover. Each costs 2,150 Apex Coins. The pairings are:
- Sparrow as Ryu
- Alter as Chun-Li
- Bangalore as Elena
- Mirage as Luke
- Gibraltar as Akuma
- Wattson as Cammy
- Caustic as Blanka
- Pathfinder as Dhalsim
There are also eight weapon skins, two skydive emotes, holosprays, stickers, badges, trackers, and frames. Players earn Zenny in every match, which can be spent on unlocking items. One item is an Epic skin for Lifeline that makes her look like Street Fighter’s Li-Fen.
Dhalsim’s Floating Role
Dhalsim floats above the Olympus map, controlling space with Yoga Teleport and raining fire down with a Yoga Sunburst. The other three characters — Ryu, Chun-Li, and Akuma — each bring their own moveset to the melee brawl.
The Skin Lineup
The eight Iconic skins cover a wide range of pairings. Bangalore becomes Elena, Mirage becomes Luke, Gibraltar becomes Akuma, Wattson becomes Cammy, Caustic becomes Blanka, and Pathfinder becomes Dhalsim.
The Cost
Each skin costs 2,150 Apex Coins. The Zenny system means players earn currency in every match, which can be spent on unlocking items during the crossover.
The Film Connection
The crossover runs through Oct. 13, which puts it squarely ahead of the Street Fighter film’s release.
What Comes Next
The event begins Sept. 22. Players who have not yet picked up the new skins can plan which character they want to pair with first.
Our View
This crossover pairs each Apex Legends character with a Street Fighter fighter, including Dhalsim floating above the Olympus map. The new Wildcard mode swapping shooting for melee combat is a bold change, and the skin lineup gives players a reason to jump back in.
The timing works in EA’s favor too. The crossover starts before the film arrives, tying the two properties together without waiting for the movie to open.
The eight Iconic skins, each paired with a Street Fighter character, offer a clear path for collectors. The Zenny system keeps the economy moving, and the Showdown finale with an infinite Fighter Gauge closes the event on a high note.
This is a crossover that respects both franchises while giving players something genuinely new to try.
The event begins Sept. 22.
