Colombian singer ARIA VEGA went straight to the top of the Billboard charts on her debut. Her song “Chévere,” a collaboration with Ryan Castro, jumped from No. 6 to No. 1 on the overall Latin Airplay chart dated Sept. 19. That gives VEGA her first chart-topping hit and Castro his second.
“I’m receiving this incredible news from Madrid, where I’m attending Fashion Week with a wonderful Colombian brand,” VEGA tells Billboard. “Soon, I’ll return to Macondo to open for Shakira during her residency at Macondo Park. I am also recording reimagined versions of my songs infused with Colombia’s coastal sounds, including drums and gaita flutes, so I couldn’t be happier!”
The Jump to No. 1
“Chévere,” on AWOO/Warner Latina, reached No. 1 after a 23% gain in audience impressions. That pushed the song’s total audience to 6.6 million during the Sept. 4-10 tracking week in the United States, according to Luminate. The song knocked Jay Wheeler’s “De Lejitos” from the top spot after two weeks in charge.
“I’m incredibly excited,” Castro shares with Billboard from Washington D.C., one of the stops on his SENDÉ World tour. “‘Chévere’ [which translates to ‘cool’ in English] is a song I sing every night, so seeing it reach No. 1 on Latin Airplay fills me with pride. I’m very grateful to ARIA, my team, and everyone who continues to support my music.”
Why This Pairing Matters
“Chévere” stands apart on the Latin Airplay chart this year. Thirty-three songs have hit No. 1 in 2026, and 23 of those were collaborations, including 15 duets. But “Chévere” is the only chart-topper by two Colombian artists. It is also just the sixth No. 1 by soloists from the same country.
Other same-nation pairings include:
- Puerto Rico’s Bad Bunny and RaiNao with “Perfumito Nuevo”
- Zion and Chencho Corleone with “Caducaste”
- Romeo Santos and Prince Royce, representing the Dominican Republic, with “Lokita Por Mí” and “Dardos”
- Mexico’s Xavi and Carín León with “La Morrita”
Beyond Latin Airplay
“Chévere” also topped Latin Rhythm Airplay, giving Castro his second champ on that chart. The song rose to new peaks on the multi-metric charts Hot Latin Songs and Hot Latin Rhythm Songs, reaching No. 21 and No. 12, respectively.
“I really love ARIA’s music,” shares Castro. “I sent her a DM because I truly liked what she was doing, and from there, everything came together very organically. The chemistry behind creating ‘Chévere’ felt incredibly natural.”
The Debut Run
VEGA’s path to the top was unusually fast. One song was enough to make her Billboard debut, and that song became her first No. 1.
The song’s success follows a familiar pattern for collaborations on the Latin charts. Thirty-three No. 1s this year shows how often partnerships move songs into position faster than solo releases.
“Chévere” is a song I sing every night, so seeing it reach No. 1 on Latin Airplay fills me with pride.
What Comes Next for VEGA
VEGA’s schedule is packed. She is currently in Madrid for Fashion Week with a Colombian brand. She returns to Macondo to open for Shakira during her residency at Macondo Park.
She is also working on reimagined versions of her songs, infused with Colombia’s coastal sounds, including drums and gaita flutes.
Castro’s SENDÉ Tour
Castro is in the middle of his SENDÉ World tour, which includes a stop in Washington D.C. He sings the song every night.
“I’m incredibly excited,” he said.
The Chart Context
The 23% gain in audience impressions is the measure Billboard tracks. The song’s 6.6 million audience figure came from the Sept. 4-10 tracking week. That is the period Luminate uses to calculate the weekly rankings.
The Road to the Top

The climb was steady. The song moved from No. 6 to No. 1 in one week.
A Career Highlight
For VEGA, this is a highlight. For Castro, it is another chart victory.
Both artists are celebrating the moment. The song’s journey from a direct message to a No. 1 hit is a story that reflects the strength of the partnership between the two.
The win is a validation of the creative process that brought the song together. The chemistry was real, and the result was a chart-topper.
