Empire of the Sun are calling their 2027 Australasian tour their biggest yet, and the numbers back them up. The six-date Ask That God: Afterlife Tour runs from Auckland to Perth, and it closes out the era introduced on their 2024 album Ask That God.
Produced by Frontier Touring, the run starts Feb. 19 at Auckland’s Spark Arena before hopping the Tasman for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The general on sale opens Friday, Sept. 18 at 2pm local time, with Frontier Members getting their presale first.

The Afterlife Statement
The new tour is billed as the final live chapter of the Ask That God universe. The reimagined show “celebrates imagination, transformation and connection in a rapidly changing world,” per Frontier Touring.
Steele’s own words are more pointed. “Ask That God: Afterlife feels like a tour of unknowns and possibilities — new visions, new plateaus, fragile breakthroughs,” he said. “I think things are going to happen on this tour that have never happened before. We can’t wait to take this music and this tour to new frontiers. Let’s break barriers together.”
The Band’s Track Record
Led by Steele and producer Lord Littlemore, Empire of the Sun have put out four albums, all cracking the top 10 on the ARIA Chart. Their career numbers are substantial:

The debut album launched their career, and the single “Walking on a Dream” remains their signature moment. It was an ARIA Top 10 hit in 2008, then belatedly reached the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 65 when it was synced to a Honda Civic commercial in 2016.
The song also topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart, their second leader after 2013’s “Alive.” “Walking on a Dream” is a member of APRA AMCOS’ Billions Awards club, which recognises songwriter members who’ve reached one billion streams with a song.
Recent Activity
This year brought a notable addition to the catalogue. In July, Empire of the Sun and Danny Ocean scored a goal with “Llego” (via SALXCO UAM and Def Jam Recordings). The track was tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The single continues a run of releases that have kept the band active between album cycles. The tour itself is presented as the culmination of that run.
