Spotify's Fresh Finds Forward offers artists free studio time at iconic studios plus software and therapy, a generous package for playlist winners.

Spotify has a new program for artists who land on its Fresh Finds playlists, and it comes with a freebie that is genuinely unusual: studio time at three iconic recording spots, plus a year of software and six months of therapy.

The program, called Fresh Finds Forward, launches today. Artists who appear on any Fresh Finds playlist after January 1st, 2026, can join and get 12 months of additional resources. The centerpiece is free studio time for US-based artists at Electric Lady Studios in NYC, The Lighthouse at Ocean Way Nashville, or Spotify Music Studios in LA.

The Studio Time Offer

The studio slots are the headline. Electric Lady Studios is the famous Manhattan studio where Jimi Hendrix recorded Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland. The Lighthouse is part of the Ocean Way complex in Nashville, a landmark in country and pop recording. Spotify Music Studios is the company’s own facility in Los Angeles.

All three are now available to eligible artists at no cost. The offer is limited to US-based creators, and the details on how many sessions each artist gets or how they are scheduled are not specified.

Software and Therapy

The studio time is not the only perk. Artists also get 12 months of Landr Studio Pro and Splice’s Creator Plan. Both are production tools used by independent musicians.

Spotify is also offering six months of free therapy through BetterHelp. The company frames this as a practical recognition of the pressure in the business. “Because we all know trying to make it as a musician is stressful and potentially soul-crushing,” the announcement reads, noting that a Fresh Finds placement does not guarantee there won’t be further rejections and failures.

Early Access to Spotify Tools

Beyond the tangible goods, artists get early access to Spotify tools and features. They also get priority access to tour and music video partnerships.

The package is designed to give artists the infrastructure they need to build on the exposure a Fresh Finds spot provides. A playlist placement draws listeners, but the tools are meant to help artists keep converting those listeners into fans.

How It Differs From Discovery Mode

Spotify has offered promotional payments to artists before. Its Discovery Mode paid artists a “promotional royalty rate” in exchange for higher algorithmic promotion.

Fresh Finds Forward is different. Spotify says the program does not change royalty rates and is provided completely free of charge to participating artists.

That distinction matters to artists who have been tracking the platform’s shifting incentives over the years. Discovery Mode was a financial arrangement; this is a bundle of services.

The Cost to Spotify

The value of the package is not stated in cash terms. But the combined offerings — studio time at historic venues, a year of premium software, and six months of therapy — represent a significant investment from the platform.

The studio time alone is notable. Independent creators often struggle to afford time at these locations, and the offer extends to artists who might otherwise not have access.

Who Is Eligible

The program is open to artists who appear on any Fresh Finds playlist after January 1st, 2026. It is limited to US-based artists, and the source does not say whether international artists can apply.

Artists join the program after being added to a Fresh Finds playlist. The application process is not described in detail.

What Artists Actually Get

Resource Duration
Free studio time As needed, US-based artists
Landr Studio Pro 12 months
Splice Creator Plan 12 months
BetterHelp therapy 6 months
Early access to Spotify tools Ongoing
Priority tour and music video partnerships Ongoing

The Bottom Line

Spotify is betting that giving artists the means to make better music will lead to better music on its platform. The studio time, software, and therapy are all aimed at helping artists produce and promote their work.

The therapy inclusion is the most striking element. Most streaming platforms focus on marketing and distribution.

Why It Matters

Fresh Finds placements are competitive. Landing one signals that Spotify’s algorithms think an artist deserves attention. The program turns that signal into actual resources.

For a young artist, a few days in a historic studio could be the difference between a demo and a professional release. The software subscriptions give them production tools they might otherwise rent or buy.

The therapy component is harder to measure, but it addresses a real problem in the industry. Making it as a musician is stressful. Rejection is part of the job.

Spotify is not guaranteeing success. It is guaranteeing tools.

The program is live now. The question is whether the investment pays off for both sides.

For artists, the answer is simple: it is free studio time, free software, and free therapy. That is a pretty good deal.
