The Truck Parts Fire Sale
One user sold a massive collection of truck parts that belonged to their ex, at a fraction of their value.
“Sold about 10k of truck parts that he had purchased and was coming back for, and I sold everything for a total of 1000,” they wrote. “One guy who bought a pair of headers was like, ‘These are like a 1000 bucks. I can’t, in good conscience, only give you a dollar.’ When i told him why so cheap he gave me 500 and i kept all the money.”
The buyer’s conscience actually worked in the seller’s favor, netting them an extra $500.
Underwear Sizing Revenge
A woman whose ex constantly commented on her postpartum weight found a subtle way to get back at him.
“I went to the store and bought the exact same underwear that he wore, only a size or two smaller,” she wrote. “One size smaller when I was packing my stuff, two sizes smaller when I left. I came to get something that I had forgotten and saw that he bought a scale for the bathroom. It worked.”
The scale purchase confirmed that her message had been received.

“100 degree weather, she went and covered his black car with marshmallows,” the user wrote. “They melted. Everywhere, bugs and birds. He was at work for a twelve hour shift.”

The Long Game
One user described a more elaborate scheme involving an ex’s best friend of over 20 years. The ex had cheated throughout the relationship, mocked her for a miscarriage, and became physically abusive before she left.
“I slept with that friend, wrapped him so far up in pleasing me that the best friend burnt the bridge between them,” she wrote. “Then I left and never looked back. They still haven’t made up and I’m married (and happier than ever) and the best friend still tries to hit me up.”
The friendship was destroyed, and the ex lost both his partner and his closest friend.

That helps explain why heartbreak can feel like withdrawal. People may desperately:

The brain has become accustomed to the relationship, so suddenly losing that source of emotional reward creates a craving for something that isn’t good for you anymore.
