The Kelvin Timeline, the alternate reality that powered Star Trek’s 2009 movie reboot, is officially returning for the franchise’s 60th anniversary. Star Trek Online is introducing the Rediscovered update this month, bringing Nero’s massive Romulan vessel and other reboot-era content to consoles.
Arc and Cryptic announced the update alongside a content roadmap that runs through 2026 and into 2027, with the news first reported by TrekMovie. The centerpiece is the Narada, the enormous Romulan mining ship from the 2009 film, which is coming to consoles.
The Narada Joins the Fight
The Narada is the clearest connection to the Kelvin Timeline on the new roadmap. It arrives as a playable T6 Miracle Worker Juggernaut, giving players Nero’s iconic vessel from Star Trek (2009).
The ship follows the recent Kelvin Timeline Starship Bundle, which added the Salcombe, Armstrong, and Newton classes to the game. That bundle also included alternate ship designs and cosmetics inspired by the reboot films.
The Kelvin Timeline began when Nero traveled back in time and attacked the USS Kelvin. That single act created a new reality where Kirk, Spock, and the original Enterprise crew could be reinvented without erasing decades of established continuity.
Three Eras of Spock
The Rediscovered update brings together multiple versions of Spock, with three actors voicing the character across different eras. Ethan Peck voices his Strange New Worlds version, Piotr Michael voices the older Captain Spock associated with the Star Trek 6 era, and Leonard Nimoy returns as the original Commander Spock through archived dialogue.
Players will encounter all three during the new episode, “The City on the Edge of Never.” A new space TFO called “Know Thy Enemy” places players inside B’vat’s Klingon holosimulation.
A Divisive But Successful Reboot
The 2009 film went all in on the alternate timeline concept. Star Trek had dabbled with alternate timelines since the original series, but the movie made the idea central to its story.
