Lucasfilm is remaking the original Star Wars trilogy, and it is doing it with a twist that fans will love: a graphic novel told from the points of view of Luke, Leia, and Han. The project, Star Wars: A New Hope: Triple Take, comes from siblings Chas! Pangburn and Kim Shearer, and it is set for release in May 2027.
The Graphic Novel That Rewrites A New Hope
Triple Take is a retelling of the classic film from the perspectives of its three main heroes. Luke Skywalker remembers a mythic journey of destiny and courage. Leia recalls the dangerous reality of rebellion against the Empire. Han, naturally, remembers how incredibly heroic he was.
The book is published by Mad Cave Studios, and it features a quartet of artists bringing each character’s account to life. The official synopsis promises a fresh look at familiar scenes, from Darth Vader’s first appearance to the destruction of the Death Star.
Beth Revis Returns With Twin Crossroads
Beth Revis, the author of the 2017 origin story Rebel Rising and the 2022 romance Princess and the Scoundrel, returns in 2027 with Star Wars: Twin Crossroads. This book follows Luke and Leia after Return of the Jedi, as the siblings train together in the ways of the Jedi on the remote planet of Ajan Kloss.
The story explores how the legacy of their parents, Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, shapes their future. Luke doubts his teaching ability, while Leia grapples with being Darth Vader’s daughter. The twins volunteer for a covert New Republic mission to infiltrate Coruscant, the center of Imperial power.
A Celebration Book From DK
No anniversary is complete without a celebration book, and Lucasfilm is delivering one from DK. The book brings together exclusive interviews, secrets, and stories that highlight why Star Wars remains a pop-culture icon.
The release date is April 6, 2027, the same day as Twin Crossroads.

The Anniversary Plans Are Just Beginning
The 50th anniversary of Star Wars is still a few months away, but Lucasfilm is already making a statement. The company is not just putting the original film out on IMAX. It is creating new content that honors the franchise’s history while moving it forward.
The graphic novel approach is a bold choice. Retelling a story from multiple perspectives is not easy, but Pangburn and Shearer have experience with young adult and kid adventures in their “flip book” series Double Booking.
