Fox’s free-streaming service Tubi has struck a major deal in Canada, adding 800 comedy specials and episodes from the Just For Laughs catalog to its Canadian feed. The move brings a wide range of titles to the platform, from Dave Merheje’s Dave Merheje: I Love You Habibi to Hasan Minhaj’s Hasan Minhaj: Adult Boy, plus Howie Mandell’s Howie Mandell: Don’t Sneeze On Me.

The deal also includes a pair of Jeff Dunham specials, Jeff Dunham @ JFL: Volume I and Volume II, Rick Mercer’s Rick Mercer: Raise a Little Hell, Tiffany Haddish’s Tiffany Haddish Top of the World, and Trevor Noah’s Trevor Noah @ JFL: Volume I and Volume II. Series like Just for Laughs Gags, Funny As Hell, Just Kidding and LOL Just for Laughs Sketch Show round out the package.

The Deal’s Size

The 800-title figure covers a mix of content from the Just For Laughs catalog. The Just For Laughs brand has a long history in Canada, and the deal brings that history to Tubi’s Canadian audience.

“Just for Laughs has a rare ability to bring Canadians of all generations together through the power of comedy,” said Gave Lindo, Vice President and General Manager of Canada, Tubi. “From longtime fans who grew up with its iconic festival and hidden-camera segments to younger audiences discovering its instantly shareable humour, the franchise remains a beloved part of Canada’s entertainment culture.”

The Brokers Behind It

Tubi’s content acquisition and partnerships team, led by Sam Harowitz, oversees global content licensing deals for the platform. Alonso Carrillo brokered the deal on behalf of Tubi with Véronique Bussières of the Just For Laughs Group.

The Franchise’s History

The Just For Laughs brand has been a fixture of Canadian television for decades. Its festival and hidden-camera segments are part of the franchise’s identity. The deal now makes that archive available to Tubi subscribers in Canada.

The Mix of Titles

The mix of titles means something for everyone. Stand-up fans get recent specials from Minhaj and Mandell. Sketch-show fans get LOL Just for Laughs Sketch Show. And anyone who grew up with Just for Laughs Gags can revisit those hidden-camera segments.

The Brokers’ Roles

Sam Harowitz leads Tubi’s content acquisition and partnerships team, which handles global licensing deals for the platform. Alonso Carrillo brokered the deal on behalf of Tubi with Véronique Bussières of the Just For Laughs Group.

Carlos Pacheco’s Take

Carlos Pacheco, Director Digital Revenue and Distribution at Just For Laughs, framed the deal as a way to make the company’s history accessible to a new generation of viewers. “For more than four decades, Just For Laughs has been where Canadians discover their next favourite comedy,” he said. “With hundreds of specials and episodes on Tubi, that entire history, from the stand-up sets that launched careers to the Gags and LOL that made the whole family laugh, is available to the Canadian audience, and free.”

The Timing

The deal is part of a broader shift for Fox Corp. The company is planning for the $22B merger with Roku to close in the first half of 2027. A senior Fox executive recently said a U.S. Department of Justice probe into the deal was “entirely expected.”

The Bottom Line

The deal is a win for Canadian viewers, who get access to a large catalog of comedy. It is also a win for Tubi, which gains a brand with deep cultural resonance.

The deal gives Tubi a strong identity built around a familiar Canadian property. Viewers who grew up with the festival or the hidden-camera segments can revisit them, while newer audiences get access to recent stand-up specials and sketch shows.
