YouTuber Charlie ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White is leaving the realm of commentary behind and entering the realm of Gielinor itself. Jagex and Lyrical Animation have announced a new animated series based on the fantasy world of RuneScape, and MoistCr1TiKaL’s production company, Meatier Productions, will produce it alongside Lyrical.
The announcement came at RuneFest in Birmingham on October 3, following the Old School RuneScape keynote. CEO Jon Bellamy revealed the project, calling it a step beyond the usual game updates. “When we talk about the future of RuneScape, we don’t just mean games,” he said. “We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience. It’s early days, but we’re excited to explore that potential with Charlie and the team at Lyrical Animation, and we wanted our players to be the first to know.”
The Early Days of Gielinor
Bellamy framed the project as a way to introduce Gielinor to new audiences while giving existing players another way to experience the world. He stressed that development is still at an early stage, and further details are expected in 2027.
The announcement does not name a streaming platform, voice cast or release date. That means 2027 is the next promised update, rather than a confirmed premiere window. The project is being developed with the same production companies that worked on MoistCr1TiKa.L’s recently announced Godslap animated movie, which is already in production and targeting a 2028 release.
Powerhouse Animation Studios is handling the hand-drawn animation for Godslap. The same companies are now turning their attention to the wider world of Gielinor.
Daniel Dominguez, Creative Director of Lyrical Animation, spoke directly about the storytelling challenge. “Runescape has such a unique storytelling voice, at once laugh-out-loud funny and effortlessly insightful,” he said. “To be allowed to help bring that to life for its millions of fans alongside our dear friend Charlie again is a dream come true.”
The Dream Team Behind the Series
MoistCr1TiKaL’s production company, Meatier Productions, is producing the series alongside Lyrical Animation. The partnership between the two parties is central to the project.
Dominguez’s quote speaks to the relationship between the two companies. The same production teams that shaped Godslap are now working on the RuneScape series.

The key facts of the announcement are simple:

Comparing the Two Projects
| Project | Producer | Target release | Animation |
|---|---|---|---|
| RuneScape series | Meatier Productions / Lyrical Animation | Details in 2027 | Not yet named |
| Godslap movie | Same production team | 2028 release | Powerhouse Animation Studios |
The table shows the shared DNA between the two projects. Both are produced by the same companies, and both target release windows in the late 2020s.
Why This Matters
RuneScape has been around for decades, and its community is massive. Bringing that world to animated television gives fans a new way to experience the stories they know.
The next update comes in 2027, and that is when fans will learn more about the series. Until then, the announcement stands as a signal of intent: Jagex wants RuneScape to live beyond the screen, and MoistCr1TiKaL is the man to help it happen.
The dream of Gielinor on television is now official. The question is not whether it will happen, but what it will look like when it does.
