A golden record spins amid a gathering of albums that have long ruled the charts.

The Beatles hold the record for the most combined Billboard 200 and Hot 100 No. 1s, with 39 total leaders. The Fab Four first topped the charts in February 1964, when “I Want To Hold Your Hand” reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Meet the Beatles! led the Billboard 200. Their run of Billboard 200 No. 1s stretches through the retrospective 1 in 2000-01.

The Fab Four’s Numbers

The Beatles’ tally comes from 20 Hot 100 No. 1s and 19 Billboard 200 No. 1s. The Hot 100 list includes classics like “She Loves You,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Yesterday,” “We Can Work It Out,” “Penny Lane,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Hello Goodbye,” “Hey Jude,” “Get Back,” “Come Together,” “Something” (double-sided), “Let It Be,” “The Long and Winding Road,” and “For You Blue” (double-sided). The Billboard 200 list runs from Meet The Beatles! through the band’s 1967-1970 compilation, Anthology 1, Anthology 2, Anthology 3, and finally 1.

Notably, Paul McCartney accounts for a whopping 56 combined No. 1s, with The Beatles’ 39 augmented by 17 more by McCartney solo, including his output with Wings.

Her most recent additions came from The Life of a Showgirl on the Billboard 200 and “Patient Zero” on the Hot 100. Swift is the only woman and joined, at the time, The Beatles and Drake as the only acts with double-digit No. 1s on both rankings.

Drake follows with 29 combined No. 1s: 15 on the Billboard 200 and 14 on the Hot 100. His most recent coronations were ICEMAN on the Billboard 200 and “Janice STFU” on the Hot 100.

Across the charts, Mariah Carey has amassed a total of 25 No. 1s. Among soloists, she leads with 19 Hot 100 titles, while also claiming six positions atop the Billboard 200. Her Hot 100 record features “Vision of Love,” “Emotions,” “Hero,” “Fantasy,” “One Sweet Day”, shared with Boyz II Men, along with “We Belong Together,” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”.

Madonna sits at number five among the leaders, with 22 No. 1s to her name: she holds 12 on the Billboard 200, and she also rules 10 on the Hot 100. Confessions II serves as her most recent chart-topper, and it made her the fourth artist to amass 10 or more No. 1s across both charts.
