Snack Wrap returns to McDonald’s UK menu after five years away

McDonald's brings the Snack Wrap back to UK menus for the first time since 2016, with a new black pepper mayo and no cheese.

The Snack Wrap has returned to McDonald’s restaurants throughout the UK, ending a decade-long absence from the menu. It came back on October 6, which means diners now have the chance to order the item again after it was cut from the menu in 2016.

McDonald’s first brought the UK Snack Wrap to menus in 2006, with a small corn tortilla holding chicken, cheese, lettuce and cool mayo together inside it. The item lasted on the menu for 10 years before McDonald’s took it off.

The New Price and Offer

A single returning Snack Wrap is priced at two dollars. Or customers may choose the Meal Deal Plus offer from the McDonald’s app, which bundles two wraps with medium fries and a medium drink for six dollars.

In the UK, the Snack Wrap has joined McDonald’s Big Flavour Wrap range, which already covers Sweet Chilli Chicken and BBQ & Bacon, plus the limited-time Tikka Chicken Wrap. The Snack Wrap differs from these menu items, though: it is smaller and more straightforward.

The Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap is built around chicken dressed in sweet chilli sauce, cool mayo, lettuce and cucumber. The BBQ & Bacon Wrap piles on bacon, smoky BBQ sauce, cool mayo, tomato and lettuce. The Tikka Chicken Wrap, which rolled out in February 2026, brings together chicken with tikka mayo, mango and lime chutney, onions, lettuce and cucumber.

What Changed Since 2016

The Snack Wrap coming back differs somewhat from what customers might recall. The 2026 version no longer contains cheese, and the original cool mayo has been swapped for black pepper mayo.

“Absolute staple” of the McDonald’s menu

Fans celebrated the Snack Wrap’s comeback on social media. One described it as an “absolute staple” of the McDonald’s menu, while another called it “banging.” Others questioned the decision to remove the cheese, with one customer describing the change as a “downgrade.”

Past Comebacks at McDonald’s

McDonald’s has previously turned to its discontinued menu for other limited-time returns. The McRib came back to UK restaurants in October 2024 following a 10-year absence.

The Chicken Legend remains one of the items people keep asking about bringing back. It consisted of a fried chicken breast, lettuce, and a choice of three sauces — mayonnaise, barbecue, or spicy tomato — on a ciabatta roll. It was on sale from 2007 through 2022.

The Chicken Legend was finally taken off the menu after a period of 15 years, at which point McDonald’s put the McCrispy on the menu instead.

The UK Return After the US

The UK comeback follows the Snack Wrap’s return to McDonald’s restaurants in the US in July 2025, where it was brought back after being discontinued in 2016.

In the US, consumers can pick from two kinds of Snack Wrap: Ranch or Spicy. Both come with a McCrispy Strip, lettuce, and cheese. The returning Snack Wrap has now become a lasting part of the menu stateside, so long as demand holds up.

Related Menu Items

The UK menu features the Breakfast Wrap, which is served during morning hours. It brings together a pork sausage patty, bacon, egg, cheese, a hash brown and either ketchup or brown sauce, all enclosed in a tortilla.

Item Description
Snack Wrap Chicken, lettuce, black pepper mayo, corn tortilla
Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap Chicken, sweet chilli sauce, cool mayo, lettuce, cucumber
BBQ & Bacon Wrap Chicken, bacon, smoky BBQ sauce, cool mayo, tomato, lettuce
Tikka Chicken Wrap Chicken, tikka mayo, mango and lime chutney, onions, lettuce, cucumber
Breakfast Wrap Pork sausage patty, bacon, egg, cheese, hash brown, ketchup or brown sauce

The Cheese Question

Some customers have split over the Snack Wrap’s return on social media, and the disagreement comes down to a single trade-off. The updated item costs less than its predecessor, but it no longer includes the cheese.

The cost remains modest, and the Meal Deal Plus offer exists within the McDonald’s app. That is where the promotion sits.

For some people, the cheese removal is what stands in the way. Cheese was included in the original recipe, and taking it away alters how all the ingredients work together.

The items on the Snack Wrap’s comeback is a reminder that McDonald’s menu change over time. Some things vanish from the list, while others reappear later.

What We Make Of It

Fans have a reason to cheer: the Snack Wrap has come back after being absent from menus for a full decade. Its return counts as a small victory, and the reappearance itself arrives as a real surprise.

A wrap, some fries and a drink can be had at a low cost through the McDonald’s app, which carries the Meal Deal Plus offer. That makes it a sensible choice for lunch, particularly for those who don’t want to spend more than they need to.

Whether someone prefers the old cheese or the new cheese comes down to personal preference. Those who enjoyed the original will likely find the newer version a disappointment. The Snack Wrap’s return has clearly struck a nerve with fans, as the response demonstrates a real hunger for it.
