Blizzard confirmed at BlizzCon 2026 that Diablo 5 is coming to PC — but only after someone in the room loudly whispered the fact, and the game’s director laughed it off. The company also confirmed that StarCraft is coming to Xbox, but not to PC. And no one knows why.
The Whisper Heard
During a press conference about Diablo 5, game director Joe Shely was asked which platforms the game would be on. He said nothing had been announced. Then a PR person whispered “PC version” near the end of the press conference. Shely teased them, and the PR person replied, “If we’re not on the PC, we’ve got problems.”
The joke landed, but the question remained: why keep it a secret?
StarCraft On Xbox Only
StarCraft was revealed at BlizzCon’s opening ceremony. It is an open-world sci-fi shooter set 70 years after StarCraft II in the terran Koprulu Sector. The platform announcement came from Xbox UK’s X account, not from Blizzard itself.
- One platform confirmed for Diablo 5: PC
- One platform confirmed for StarCraft: Xbox
- No PC confirmation for StarCraft
- No Xbox confirmation for Diablo 5
Blizzard’s Statement
When contacted, Blizzard offered a statement: “We are not announcing platforms today. We are building Diablo V for Spring 2029 and StarCraft for 2030 and will share platform details when we are ready.”
That explains the secrecy. It does not explain the inconsistency.
Why This Is Weird
It is weird to pretend Diablo 5 will not be on PC when Diablos 1-4 are all available on a Sony console somewhere. It is weirder to announce an Xbox release for a 2030 game but not a 2029 release unless you plan to exclude Xbox entirely, which seems unlikely. And it is strangest of all that the Xbox announcement came from a third-party account rather than Blizzard’s own presentation.
The PC version of Diablo 5 is confirmed. The Xbox version of StarCraft is confirmed. The PC version of StarCraft is not confirmed. The Xbox version of Diablo 5 is not confirmed. That is a lot of moving parts for a company that has spent years telling fans what platforms its games will run on.
Rest Easy, PC Players
For now, the PC crowd can breathe easy. Diablo 5 is coming to PC. No one knows when platform details will be shared.
Blizzard has promised platform details when they are ready.
