Taco Bell has launched a golf tournament where fans can win a part in bringing back a discontinued menu item. The fast-food chain’s first-ever Live Más Open is a nine-hole celebrity golf event. The winning foursome will get to help choose which item returns for a limited nationwide release in 2027, with the winners having a hand in picking the menu item that comes back.
The Course at Laguna Beach
Kevin Hart is hosting an event on November 2, held at The Ranch at Laguna Beach. The tournament brings together 36 players divided into nine groups of four, each consisting of a qualifying fan, a celebrity, a professional athlete, and a creator.
The fast-food chain is setting up a drive-thru right on the course that serves food inspired by golf and remixed versions of club favorites. Nine holes make up the competition, along with extra challenges built into the event.
Qualifying Through Topgolf
Starting from September 10 and running through September 27, eligible fans can sign up for the Live Más Open Qualifier by playing Shot Shuffle at Topgolf locations across the US. Anyone who reaches at least 200 points earns a spot in a sweepstakes, giving them a chance to advance further through the qualification process.
For people who would rather not go to Topgolf or spend money, there is a separate way to take part that costs nothing.
From 100 Candidates to Nine Spots
Among the entries that qualify, a random selection will choose 100 candidates. Each of these individuals will be awarded a one-month Topgolf Platinum Club Membership along with an invitation to put together a player bio and video.
After fans submit their entries, Taco Bell will examine them and choose nine people to come to Laguna Beach for the Live Más Open competition.
The Trophy and the Menu Pick
When the tournament concludes, the team that wins will take home the first-ever Live Más Open trophy along with purple jackets.
The bigger deal for Taco Bell customers is that the group gets to take part in picking which menu item comes back to stores across the country for a limited time in 2027.
Taco Bell says viewers can tune in nationwide in November to watch the Live Más Open and witness the crowning of the first champions.
The Global Taco Vote Precedent
Taco Bell hasn’t always kept menu choices entirely within its own hands. Earlier in 2026, the chain ran its first Global Taco Vote, giving Rewards Members the power to pick between two international items for a US release.
India’s Butter Chicken Taco won with 64.65% of the vote, beating Thailand’s Kickin’ Chicken Taco and securing a limited-time US launch later in 2026.
In 2027, the returning menu item will be decided by the winning team from the Live Más Open, taking the original concept a step further.
