Taylor Swift is not done with The Life of a Showgirl. Less than 24 hours after dropping her new song “Patient Zero,” the singer has announced The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, a follow-up that adds four new songs to her 2025 release.
The album arrives with a statement from Swift that lands straight to the heart of why it exists. “Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history,” she wrote. “We wrote more songs. I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
The Encore’s New Songs
The Encore adds four fresh tracks to the original album’s already crowded 16-song list. The new songs are:

What the Statement Says
Swift’s letter is the whole story. She took a trip to Sweden with her collaborators Max and Shellback to celebrate the album’s historic first-week numbers. “Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in,” she wrote. But there was a studio there, and the creative urge took over.
“I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made.”
A Year of Milestones
Swift released The Life of a Showgirl last October. Since then she has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the National Recording Registry. She premiered the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Toy Story 5.
This Sunday, she will receive the inaugural “Artist Director Honors” at the VMAs.
The Fan-Motivated Recording
Swift’s statement makes the case for the Encore. She did not write these songs because she had material sitting around. She wrote them because the album’s reception made her want to keep working.
The new songs came from that gratitude.

Swift’s statement is the key to understanding the Encore. She is not chasing the numbers. She is chasing the feeling she got when she saw how much people cared about her work. The songs were born out of gratitude, and that is the honest kind of pop music.
