For years, Bose has treated headphones as fashion accessories. Now the audio brand has committed fully to that approach. It has partnered with designer Thom Browne to produce the Bose x Thom Browne QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), a $950 collaboration that turns the simple listening device into a couture statement. These headphones made their debut on the runway at Browne’s Fall 2026 show at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor on Feb. 6, during the designer’s GQ Bowl presentation before Super Bowl LX.
The Runway Debut
The headphones made their debut at Browne’s Fall 2026 show, where they were worn by models who walked the runway carrying them. The presentation took place during the designer’s GQ Bowl event, held ahead of Super Bowl LX.
The Luxury Materials
Several luxury details distinguish the collaboration channels that Browne’s iconic gray suit is passed through.
- A cashmere coating that dresses the headphones in a soft, tactile layer
- Four-bar branding, a nod to the designer’s signature style
- A compact cashmere case for storage
- The designer’s signature red, white and blue stripe
The Tech Underneath
Bose launched the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) as a new generation in 2025, and the Thom Browne edition treats them as a fashion item rather than a plain audio device. The audio tech is already for sale, while the partnership presents it as a style choice instead. The headphones come with better noise cancellation, lossless USB-C audio, an extended battery life and enhanced processing.
Thom Browne’s edition comes with added features. It bundles Bose Immersive Audio along with the newer Cinema Mode, a setup designed to make movie and video sound fuller and wider. Phone calls work through built-in microphones with background-noise reduction included, and battery life runs up to 30 hours, or 23 hours when Immersive Audio is turned on.
The Fashion Angle
The collaboration is less about reinventing Bose’s audio technology and more about reframing it. The performance features are already part of Bose’s latest QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). What Browne brings is the framing: he turns a familiar piece of audio gear into something that feels less like an electronic device and more like a deliberate fashion accessory.
The whole idea is that these headphones are not a technical advance at all. They exist purely as a fashion statement, and the $950 price tag makes that clear. Buyers get a long window to make up their minds: the preorder period opens Sept. 24, well before the Sept. 28 launch, so there is plenty of time to weigh whether walking around with couture earmuffs on your ears is worth it.
The Bottom Line
Bose has long treated headphones as fashion items, and this partnership pushes that idea further than anything before it. The tech is strong — upgraded noise cancellation, longer battery life, improved processing — but the real draw is the luxury finish. A cashmere covering, four-bar branding, a compact cashmere case and the signature stripe all point to something beyond ordinary headphones: they are a statement.
The $950 price tag is steep, and the fact that the underlying hardware is already available means the value proposition rests entirely on the fashion factor. The preorder window opens Sept. 24, and the launch follows on Sept. 28.
Preorders for the headphones open Sept. 24, ahead of the full rollout set for Sept. 28.
