The year begins with a Netflix binge of seven episodes of “East of Eden”, a modern take on Steinbeck’s masterpiece, following the multi-generational saga of the Trask family. Cathy Ames, portrayed by Florence Pugh, is described as the indelible antihero.

- “Big Brother” Season 28 finale at 8 p.m. on CBS
- “Coven Academy” premieres at 8 p.m. on Freeform, with four episodes. The YA drama follows three teenage witches and their warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school where power is currency, secrets are lethal and attraction is a liability. Tiffani Thiessen and Devon Sawa co-star. All 10 Season 1 episodes stream on Disney+ and Hulu Friday.
- “Trivial Pursuit” returns at 8 p.m. on The CW
- “Scrabble” returns at 9 p.m. on The CW
- “War” premieres at 9 p.m. on HBO. The series follows a tech mogul (Dominic West) and his actress wife (Sienna Miller) as their divorce sends shockwaves through London’s boardrooms, bedrooms and courtrooms.

Friday, October 2
Hulu opens its Friday lineup with a 20-episode binge of “Adventure Time: Side Quests” Season 2. The Austin City Limits Music Festival airs live for Day 1 of 3, though the start time has yet to be set. AMC+ adds “Kill Jackie” to its schedule.
ABC airs “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” at 8 p.m. in the evening. History brings back “The Unbelievable With Dan Aykroyd” Season 4 at 9 p.m. Starz kicks off “Tip Toe” at 9:05 p.m., with Alan Cumming and David Morrissey starring as Manchester neighbors whose lives spiral into lies and violence after one hands the other his spare key.
At 10 p.m., the “Roast My Rental” Season 1 finale airs on HGTV. The Netflix movie “Tyler Perry’s Doing Life”, which stars Naomi Baker as a single mother and Jay Reeves as an incarcerated man, follows their unlikely bond through a series of heartfelt letters. A separate Apple TV documentary, “The Last First: Winter K2”, covers extreme mountaineering’s shifting culture during a winter expedition on K2, following John Snorri Sigurjónsson and the Sadparas. And at 8 p.m., the new LMN series “For Better or Worse” premieres, starring Amaris Davidson, Justin Anthony Moore, Jon Briddell and Royal R. Carter.
Saturday, October 3
The Austin City Limits Music Festival streams live for Day 2 of 3 on Hulu, with a time TBA. “Crossroad Springs” midseason finale airs at 8 p.m. on Great American Family. “A Doctor to Die For: The Sarah Harris Story” premieres at 8 p.m. on Lifetime, about a young woman (Siobhan Williams) drawn into a dangerous relationship with a middle-aged surgeon (Luke Macfarlane) who secretly supplies her with drugs. Her mother and sister investigate after tragedy strikes.
“A Knight to Remember” premieres at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel. Julie Gonzalo plays a museum conservator who accidentally brings a centuries-old knight (James Trevena) back to life with a kiss. Chris McNally co-stars.
Sunday, October 4
Day 3 of 3 streams live on Hulu. On CBS, “Marshals” Season 2 starts at 8:30 p.m. The finale of “The Detour With David Chang” Season 1, which spans two episodes, begins at 9 p.m. on CNN. The finale of “High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam” arrives at 9 p.m. on TNT. The finale of “Lanterns” Season 1 starts at 9 p.m. on HBO. The finale of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” Season 5 airs at 9 p.m. on Bravo. On CBS, the premiere of “Tracker” Season 4 is set for 9:30 p.m. The finale of the limited series “A Tale of Two Cities” closes at 10 p.m. on MGM+.
“Where No One Can Find Her” premieres at 8 p.m. on Lifetime. A mother (Brianna Cohen) and her ex-husband must raise a massive ransom after their teenage daughter (Casey Breneman) is kidnapped and buried alive.
Monday, October 5
“Signora Volpe” Season 3 premieres on Acorn TV. “Below Deck Mediterranean” Season 11 finale airs at 8 p.m. on Bravo. “FBI” Season 9 premieres at 8 p.m. on CBS. “Private Eyes West Coast” premieres at 8 p.m. on The CW, with Matt Shade (Jason Priestley) and Angie Everett (Cindy Sampson) having left their P.I. firm for a new life on the west coast. Their quiet life is shaken when a night out lands them at the scene of a murder.
“CIA” Season 2 premieres at 9 p.m. on CBS. “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” Season 2 premieres at 9 p.m. on The CW. “Harlan Coben’s Final Twist” Season 2 premieres at 10 p.m. on CBS. “Sweet Deceit: Trick or Treat” premieres at 10 p.m. on Food Network, two episodes. “Reasonable Doubt” Season 4 premieres at 8 p.m. on Hulu, with three episodes. “NCIS” Season 24 premieres at 9 p.m. on CBS. “NCIS: New York” premieres at 9 p.m. on CBS.
