The end title for Lance Oppenheim’s crime thriller, a chilling rocker with dense guitar riffs that lurk in the distance, has now arrived. It is Phoebe Bridgers’ contribution to the Primetime soundtrack, and it carries “On Video,” weight.
The Song’s Place on the Album
“On Video” closes out the film as its end title. The soundtrack also features an original score by Oppenheim’s longtime collaborator Ari Balouzian, who composed the recently-released “Savior.”
Bridgers Joins the Cast
Primetime centers on To Catch a Predator, with Robert Pattinson taking on the role of its host, Chris Hansen. The series marks Bridgers’ acting debut as decoy Del Harvey, alongside Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Alex Winter.
“It was certainly super intimidating and when Lance asked me, I was like, ‘No way,'” she said. “But it turns out, working with incredible people actually makes it way easier. I thought I was going to wither with all of these guys. Instead, it was so fun and free.”
At the Venice International Film Festival, she addressed the project during a press conference, with Primetime making its world premiere there.
The Tour Continues
The singer is currently touring to promote her new solo record, Lost Weekend, and her current run follows a similar format to the pop-up shows she played earlier this summer. Those shows included an evening at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and just as with those performances, this current trek does not allow audience members to bring phones into the venue.
A Music Video Directed by Oppenheim
For the “Lost Boys” video, she called on her Primetime family. Oppenheim stepped in to direct, while Gisondo took on the role of a gas station cashier who transforms into a knight in shining armor.
The Film Hits Theaters
Primetime hits theaters on Friday.
Bridgers’ Busy Stretch
Throughout her career, Bridgers has shifted between music and acting. Now, her two fields come together on this release: “On Video” is tied to a film she stars in, while Oppenheim directs one of her videos.
An artist who has always moved between genres rather than settling in one place finds the crossover to be a natural match.
