CD Projekt Red has released a five-track EP from The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past expansion, and the music is available to stream right now. The EP, titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past (OST Gamescom 2026 EP), features work by Magda Urbańska, Marcin Przybyłowicz and Daniel Elms. It arrives as the first public taste of the upcoming third expansion, which drops over a decade after the original game came out.
The release is a small but significant gesture. Fans who have been waiting for hands-on time with Letten now get to hear how the music sounds before they see the map.
The Tracks
The EP is a five-track sampler, each track tied to a composer. Here is the full track listing:
| # | Track | Composer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Return to the Path | Magda Urbańska |
| 2 | Awoken | Magda Urbańska |
| 3 | Into Darkness | Daniel Elms |
| 4 | What’s Done | Marcin Przybyłowicz |
| 5 | Belleteyn Night | Magda Urbańska |
The EP blends orchestral writing with traditional folk influences, powerful vocal performances and regional instrumentation inspired by the world’s diverse cultures. That description fits the music’s stated aim: to capture the deceptively bucolic environment of Letten, treating listeners to folksy light-heartedness with an underbelly of malice and mystery.
Urbańska on the Music
Magda Urbańska spoke about the project in a press release. She recalled her first hearing of the music from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
“Creating music for Songs of the Past was incredibly exciting for me, but I also felt a huge sense of responsibility,” she said. “I vividly remember the first time I heard the music from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — it shook me to the core. That music was extraordinary then, and it remains extraordinary to this day.”
She also noted the challenge of working with folk music.
“I’ve worked with classical music for most of my life, but folk requires a completely different sensibility — it has its own tone and form, while also offering enormous creative freedom. But our roots, our Slavic heritage, are something more than that — something that runs deep within us, something that grows out of who we are. I hope we’ve managed to preserve The Witcher DNA in these pieces.”
What We Know About Songs of the Past
The Gamescom reveal confirmed several details about the expansion. Letten is the new playable location, and the story has been in the works for years. The project came together after a series of happy accidents.
The new romance was also confirmed. The expansion drops over a decade after the original game came out.
The EP is available now on all platforms: Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Our View
The EP is a smart move. It gives fans a reason to pay attention to a project that has been moving slowly through development. The music stands on its own, and the composers’ Slavic heritage ties directly into the game’s setting.
This is a small win for the waiting fan base. It is not the expansion itself, but it is the closest anyone outside the studio has gotten to hearing Letten so far.
The EP is a reminder that the music matters as much as the maps. It sets the tone for a world that promises warmth and danger in equal measure.
