Pokémon TCG fans have a new set on the horizon, and the official release date is still weeks away. The Rayquaza-themed Delta Reign set arrives Nov. 6, but players can get their hands on it earlier — and at a better price — through pre-release events. The Pokémon Company has opened its Delta Reign events page, letting stores host events well before the official drop.
What Delta Reign Brings
Delta Reign is a Rayquaza-themed set. The set also introduces a two-card Stadium mechanic.
The set comes with some of the year’s best special illustration cards, according to the report. Tayu is the artist behind the Nidoran card, which was physically embroidered for the set. That dark-type card appeals to fans of Yuka Morii and Asako Ito.
Promo Cards You Can’t Get Elsewhere
The promo cards are a big draw. Four specific Pokémon get exclusive versions:
- Masquerain
- Magmortar
- Enamorus
- Kommo-o
These cards cannot be found anywhere else. Collectors who attend a pre-release event get a chance to see them ahead of the official release.
The Build and Battle Box Deal
An event ticket gets you a Build and Battle box. That box includes a pre-built deck, a Delta Reign promo card, and three booster packs. Players who stay and play a couple of matches get a few more packs, and some shops give out extra packs for winners.
That works out to at least six packs and 40 additional set-exclusive cards. At a shop charging $39.99, that’s about $6.60 a pack.
