Miley Cyrus is dancing again, and this time the dance is a No. 1 debut. Her seventh studio album, Bass Persuades, opened at the top of the Billboard 200, and she spent her Instagram telling everyone exactly why she cares.
“Bass Persuades being #1 transcends a win. This process has been some of the best times for me. Everyone involved made it possible and more importantly fun and memorable,” Miley wrote on Instagram.
The post came with a picture of a gigantic No. 1 made out of white roses, and another of Miley herself standing next to the arrangement. She also shared a note from Atlantic Records chairman/CEO Elliot Grainge, who wrote, “Miley, congratulations on the #1 debut! We are so proud and lucky to get to do this with you. Here’s to many more!”
The Numbers Behind the Debut
Bass Persuades launched with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate. That puts it at No. 1 on the Oct. 3-dated Billboard 200.
This is Miley’s sixth total chart-leading album and 16th top 10-charted LP. Her last time at No. 1 came in 2013 with Bangerz. The album’s title track and first single debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Sept. 19), marking Miley’s 24th top 40 hit.
The numbers tell part of the story. Six chart-leading albums, 16 top 10 records, 24 top 40 hits — Bass Persuades arrives amid a long run of commercial success. But Miley’s reaction tells the rest. She framed the No. 1 debut as something larger than a chart position.
The Note From Atlantic
Grainge’s note was warm. He congratulated Miley on the debut and closed with a look forward.
Miley’s own response was similarly personal. She thanked her team and her fans directly, calling the latter the people who make her world go round.
What the Post Says
Miley’s Instagram post was more than a standard victory lap. She named the people who made it happen, from Atlantic to her crew, and she singled out her fans, whom she called the Smilers.
- She thanked Atlantic and her team
- She gave a special shout-out to her beloved Smilers
- She framed the achievement as a collective effort, not a solo win
She ended with a simple, direct message to the fans: “Making music for you brings immeasurable joy to my life. Forever. 🖤 MILEY.”
The Hollywood Bowl Shows
Miley hasn’t toured in years and rarely performs at big venues. Her 10th studio album comes with two rare Hollywood Bowl shows on Oct. 16 and 18.
“I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage,” she said while announcing the gigs. “L.A. is my heart and I’m bringing it home. See you there.”
The shows mark a return to live performance for an artist who has largely stayed off the road in recent years. They are also a celebration of the album itself, with the No. 1 debut providing a strong reason to gather.
The Album’s Track Record
The title track debuted at No. 35 on the Hot 100, and the full record reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. That combination of singles success and album sales strength suggests Bass Persuades arrived with real momentum behind it.
The Hollywood Bowl shows give fans a chance to hear the new material live.
Miley’s Instagram post captured that energy perfectly. The roses, the note from Atlantic, and her own words all pointed in the same direction: a win for the music, a win for the people who made it happen, and a win for the fans who showed up.
She celebrated the moment, and she celebrated the people who got her there. That’s the kind of No. 1 debut that feels earned.
