Rookie safety Dillon Thieneman recorded his first NFL interception in the Chicago Bears’ 27-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The pick came at a critical moment, and Thieneman led the team in tackles for the third straight game. Thieneman was the Bears’ leading tackler in all three of their games this season.
Against the Eagles, he allowed just three completions for 46 yards. His interception came when quarterback Jalen Hurts was evaluated for a possible concussion and Andy Dalton entered the game. On third and goal from Chicago’s two-yard line, Dalton attempted to throw to Dontayvion Wicks, the former Green Bay Packers receiver, when Thieneman stepped in front of the pass. It was his first NFL interception.

The Bears are also involving their rookie receivers more. Sam Roush and Zavion Thomas each had a catch in the win against Philadelphia. Roush also made an unfortunate mistake on special teams.
Thomas served as the kick returner with a 32-yard return on his only kick return of the game.
A Strong First Three Games
Thieneman’s three-game stretch has been a strong start to his professional career. He has established himself as a reliable tackler and a threat in the passing game. The interception against the Eagles showed he can make plays in high-pressure situations.
