‘The Complete Set’ Quest in Control Resonant: Chasing Speakers That Won’t Sit Still

A quest of wandering speakers and blasted barriers: follow the speaker's wandering way through Manhattan streets to set up the complete set.

Control Resonant’s “The Complete Set” quest sends players chasing a speaker that won’t sit still. The mission tasks you with finding four altered speakers and a subwoofer across Manhattan, then setting them up in their proper positions. Each speaker moves on its own path, lets off blasts that knock you away, and deals damage if you’re too low on health.

Starting the Quest

The quest begins at the Collector’s Apartment in the southwestern street of Central. Look for a black FBC van parked just outside the entrance. Inside, pick up the “Interested in Collectibles” paper on the ground and the “Peter, Nina and Lester” tape recording on the phone. That starts the quest.

The Nearby Speaker

A figure sits within the alleyway near the Collector’s Apartment building, positioned between two heaps of refuse and close to the “Museum Flyer” collectible. It moves along with a rolling gait into the construction zone nearby, releasing periodic bursts. The player must observe its movements, pause until it halts, then press forward to restrain it.

Museum of Curiosities

First, finish the Incursion Fault inside the Parking Garage to gain Shift. Once you have Shift, you can walk along vertical roads and cross upside-down buildings. Then take the vertical road south of the House of Mirrors, and the Museum of Curiosities will appear on your left.

A Hiss barrier blocks the way, one that will not disappear even after the enemies are defeated. The path forward lies along red trails, which lead to three Hiss nodes, each marked with a star, that must be destroyed.

  1. On a vertical road just south of the Museum of Curiosities
  2. On a vertical road west of the Museum of Curiosities
  3. At the end of an alleyway with lasers northeast of the Museum of Curiosities

After the wall falls away, take the “Museum Workers’ Notes” item from the counter and look at the notices. Hit the red switch to restart the speaker’s path, then repeat the stop-and-hold method.

Auction House and the Auction Buyer’s Apartment

Travel to the Auction House located in Downtown, then use Shift to ascend the vertical roads northwest of the Oldest House. Approach the southeast building found within the Dense Patterning region, clear the heavy enemies stationed on the rooftop, and enter the interior.

Go down the first flight of stairs, where you’ll find a woman standing by a table. Before you interact with her, pick up “The SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” collectible on the desk to her north. You’ll need this note to solve a puzzle later on. Then, grab the “There’s People In There” tape recording next to the couch. This will give you your next objective: investigate the Auction Buyer’s Apartment.

Begin by speaking to the woman (or simply waiting long enough) — either way, the speaker in the room’s far corner will launch into its customary explosive trip. Note its course, let it come to a halt, and then take hold of it. Once that’s done, you’ll converse with Zoe, who hands over a second task: ask Langston about the subwoofer that was seized. Both jobs sit within Central, though Langston directs you elsewhere, so finish the Auction Buyer’s Apartment assignment before moving on.

The Apartment Objective

In Central, move toward the east until you reach the southeastern corner, where the Auction Buyer’s Apartment building sits. Ascend to the uppermost level, take hold of the “Exchange Location Note” collectible near the entryway, then make your way to the coffee shop lying to the southwest.

The speaker inside the café will do its usual bouncing about. Let it settle before you try to catch it.

The Confiscated Subwoofer

A decision marks the close of the journey: raise the subwoofer volume or cut it off entirely. Once the speakers sit in their correct spots, the ceremony reaches its end.

What We Make of It

Patience is what this quest rewards. Every speaker follows a set path, which means close observation pays off. The Hiss barriers increase the difficulty, because you must break the nodes to get rid of them.

That last choice on the subwoofer volume reads as a minor touch, nearly trivial after the whole setup process. Still, it’s the sort of small turn that makes the journey feel distinct.

Step Where What to Do
Nearby speaker Alleyway near Collector’s Apartment Watch its path, contain it
Museum of Curiosities Central Destroy three Hiss nodes
Auction House Downtown Defeat enemies, destroy Hiss nodes
Auction Buyer’s Apartment Central Pick up Exchange Location Note
Confiscated subwoofer Another area Choose volume or off

The Verdict

Control Resonant’s mission design includes several elements that stand apart from the rest of the game. Among these, the moving speakers, the Hiss barriers, and the final volume choice all carry a sense of “The Complete Set”, making this quest one built for players who enjoy a little chaos.
