A whole host of new additions has arrived for Duel Links, and they all concern gifts. Players can now give and receive gifts, while a fresh set of Extended Arts and Structure Decks have also made their way into the game. The announcement covers the mechanics behind gift exchanges, along with the details on what’s included in the new card sets.
The latest update to Konami’s mobile Yu-Gi-Ho game Duel Links includes a gift festival, a speed-duel box, and a new structure deck. It runs through October 13th, and players who log in regularly can earn some serious rewards.
The Event Rush Campaign
Until February 27, players who log in regularly will get special gifts linked to the worlds of DM, GX, and 5d’s. On the Speed side, Dark Magician of Destruction shows up as a Prismatic UR, while Rush players can secure Gilford the Lightning, also a Prismatic UR. The latter is the headline card for the campaign.
The set comes with sleeves and a playmat that puts Yugi, Yusei, and Judai front and center, with Yubel looming menacingly behind them. The package also includes 100 Chronicle chips, 1000 Gems, 15 EXP Potions, and 5 each of Character Unlock and Skill tickets. A large number of Dream Tickets will be available for the duration of the campaign, which runs over 8 days.
The Gift Festival
The Gift Festival has begun and will continue until October 13th. Every duel fought during the campaign earns players a gift, with a cap of 3 gifts active at once. The timer on each gift shortens after each duel, and the reduction depends on how the duel is played: regular duels against the AI shorten it by 5 minutes, while PvP duels shorten it by 20 minutes.
The first gift unlocked each day is a Rainbow Gift. Rainbow Gifts offer a “Double Chance,” letting players either accept the gift already revealed or wait and double the number of items they receive. Special Gifts also appear during the campaign and can contain chips, gems, and tickets.
New Boxes and Promotions
A total of four new boxes have now arrived. Destruction Geas serves as the new main box for Speed Duel, and it brings with it a special promotion: players can draw 10 Packs plus 1 UR from this set at no cost. Inside the box, you’ll find Dark Magical Curtain, Gaze of Timaeus, Miracle Ejector, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and Gandora-G the Dragon of Destruction, all paired with their matching Shining Sarcophagus.
This box set is a reprint-only release. Inside it sits two brand new Extended Art cards: Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Shooting Quasar Dragon. These are the first such extended artworks to appear on the Speed Duel side of Duel Links. The Extended Art edition of those two cards is the standout item in this collection.
The Structure Deck
Structure Deck EX – Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic – is the name given to the new set, which centers on Shining Sarcophagus and adds a special icon for players buying it for the first time. Among the cards included are Dark Magician Girl the Magician’s Apprentice, Archfiend’s Advent, Dark Magic Mirror Force, and the deck’s title card, Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic.
Konami has placed a special icon on the first purchase of the structure deck, which makes it the clearest way to assemble the Sarcophagus theme. The arrangement shows that the company wants players to give it a try.
What We Make Of It
The update delivers plenty of content for both collectors and players. The Prismatic URs are the main draw for those chasing rare cards, while the Rainbow Gifts give players a reason to return for the Double Chance. The Yubel playmat adds a playful element, and the 1000 Gems and 15 EXP Potions are a kind gesture for regular logins.
For fans of the Speed Duel format, the Anniversary Box’s Extended Art cards are the standout feature. The inclusion of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Shooting Quasar Dragon marks the first time either card has received Extended Art in this side of the game, making it a significant addition.
The free 10 Packs and the 1 UR promotion attached to the destruction Geas box serve as a strong reason to crack it open. Inside, the structure deck provides a solid foundation for players looking to build their decks around the Shining Sarcophagus.
