Taylor Swift’s The Life Of A Showgirl is back on top of the Australian charts, and she brought a brand-new single with her.
The deluxe edition of the 2025 album, called “Encore,” dropped this week with four new tracks: “Patient Zero,” “Pink Clouding,” “Babylon” and “Cleveland!” That release pushed the album up 23 spots on the ARIA Albums Chart, landing at No. 1. At the same time, “Patient Zero” debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, giving Swift a rare double-take.
The Encore Edition’s Four New Tracks
The “Encore” edition is a deluxe version of the original Showgirl album, adding those four new songs. The album’s return to the top spot comes from that release, which pulled the record up 23 places on the chart.
The songs themselves have not been described in detail by the artist.
Patient Zero Takes Over Singles Chart
“Patient Zero” arrived at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart this week. That makes it Swift’s second leader in Australia this year, after “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5 spent one week at the top in June.
The song’s rise knocked Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” from the summit. Langley’s country smash had held the No. 1 position for four weeks running, and it now drops to No. 2.
Three other tracks from the “Encore” edition also cracked the top ten. “Cleveland!” lands at No. 3, “Babylon” sits at No. 4 and “Pink Clouding” rounds out the top five at No. 5. The album’s lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” bounced up to No. 10 after spending six weeks at No. 1 in October and November.
Swift’s Long Run On Australian Charts
Swift has now collected 69 top ten hits on the ARIA Singles Chart across her career. Her grip on the albums chart is even stronger. She has spent more than 70 weeks at No. 1 on the national albums survey, dating back to 2010 with Speak Now.
New Albums Around The Chart
The ARIA Chart for this week includes several fresh entries beyond Swift’s return. Julia Jacklin’s fourth album The Gem reaches No. 5, making it her third top ten appearance after 2019’s Crushing (No. 8) and 2022’s Pre Pleasure (No. 2). It is also the biggest seller on vinyl for the week.
Nessa Barrett makes her first ARIA Chart appearance with Tough Love, her third studio album, which lands at No. 7.
Nothing But Thieves’ fifth album Stray Dogs enters the top ten at No. 9. Tinashe’s eighth studio album Popular rounds out the top tier at No. 10, marking her first entry into the ARIA Top 50.
More New Entries Further Down
The lower half of the chart is packed with fresh releases. Here is a quick look at who else made the frame:
- Leon Bridges’ Happiness Anytime at No. 12
- Shannon Noll’s The Road In Front Of Me at No. 14
- Banks Arcade’s Second Place Superstar at No. 26
- Linkin Park’s Unshatter Film Soundtrack (Live In Sao Paulo) at No. 37
- Agnes Obel’s The Meaning Of Flowers at No. 43
- Max McNown’s Leave On A Light at No. 49
What This Chart Double Says About Swift
Swift’s double-take is notable because it combines album and single success in one week. Not every artist can push a new album to No. 1 while also debuting a new single at the top of the singles chart.
The “Encore” edition’s four new tracks appear to be working together. All four made the top ten, with three of them cracking the top five.
Swift’s chart history in Australia is extensive. Her 70 weeks at No. 1 on the albums chart, dating back to Speak Now in 2010, shows a sustained run that few artists match.
A Strong Week For New Releases
The chart’s top ten is crowded with new work this week. Julia Jacklin’s The Gem at No. 5, Nessa Barrett’s Tough Love at No. 7 and Nothing But Thieves’ Stray Dogs at No. 9 show a strong week for debut albums.
Tinashe’s Popular at No. 10 is her first entry into the ARIA Top 50, a milestone for the U.S. artist. The album is her eighth studio release.
