Pokémon enthusiasts now have a fresh date to circle on their calendars: the Pokémon Trading Card Game is reportedly introducing its first-ever dedicated Valentine’s Day set, and it comes with a twist straight out of elementary school. The set is called the “Pokémon TCG Valentine’s Box, with an expected release date of January 27, 2027. The announcement was reported by Pokébeach.
This box does not expand the game in the way Delta Reign or Chaos Rising did. It follows the Halloween pattern set by the Trick or Trade series, where Pokémon-themed cards were handed out during trick-or-treating. Seasonal sets like that usually come in small foil packs holding three cards each, along with sticker sheets.
It looks like the Valentine’s edition was made with the same idea of sharing in mind. The container and its contents are said to revolve around handing cards to friends or passing them out among classmates. According to reports, the box folds up into a small cardboard mailbox, which lets children pass cards to their classmates just as they would trade Valentine’s cards at school.
What the Trick or Trade Sets Look Like
The Trick or Trade collection started as a method for children to give away Pokémon cards during trick-or-treating, offering a Pokémon-themed replacement for candy. Considering how costly some Halloween treats have grown, maybe the cards aren’t such a poor replacement after all.
The secondary-market worth of those sets has been surprising. The Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle, which was last seen in 2025, includes 40 mini packs, each holding three cards. Its current market value stands at around $75.99 at TCGplayer.
The track record behind this release is what makes a February launch worth following, particularly if it ends up being another brief seasonal offering. Past holiday drops have sold out before they even went live, which means the actual contest may begin the moment preorders open.
Which Pokémon Could Star in the Set
No Pokémon has yet been confirmed as the star of the mini set. Speculation points to several candidates, among them:
- Enamorus, despite the fact that Fairy-type Pokémon are not currently part of the TCG’s standard format.
- Sylveon, whose pink color scheme and ribbons feel perfect for the occasion.
- Audino and Blissey, both linked with care and kindness.
- Pikachu in loveheart-themed clothing.
There is no Fairy-type Pokémon in the TCG’s standard format at present, which means there is still some space to wonder whether Enamorus will show up despite it, or if the set will skip the type entirely.
Why This Matters for Collectors
Sealed products have kept their secondary-market value despite seasonal releases like the Trick or Trade sets usually focusing on reprinted cards instead of a large number of new full-art cards.
A similar route could be taken for the BOOster Bundle’s current price shows how quickly demand can build. A limited Valentine’s launch, provided the preorder window manages to attract sufficient attention.
A Box That Doubles as a Mailbox
The set’s most striking feature is its folding mailbox design, which transforms a pack of cards into a small gift — precisely the intention behind a Valentine’s Day release.
It remains uncertain whether the box will ever reach children’s hands. Given how the Pokémon TCG market currently operates, there is no guarantee that every box will end up in the possession of an actual child. Still, the design behind the set shows a clear aim: this is a set meant to be shared.
There has been no official word on this matter, and nothing has been made public yet. Still, the history of the Trick or Trade series shows that The Pokémon Company has a track record when it comes to seasonal releases.
Whether this set measures up to what its packaging promises will be the true test. The concept of a box that folds into a mailbox is a clever idea, and the Pokémon TCG has demonstrated repeatedly that it can turn such concepts into reality. It remains to be seen, however, if this particular product will join the ranks of the franchise’s other collectible successes.
