Apple has announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The company says the device opens to the thinnest iPhone yet with a display 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The phone also features an outer display with more than 90 percent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple calls it “an iPhone unlike any iPhone.”
The Foldable Design
The iPhone Duo comes in two finishes: Night Sky and Star White. When closed, it is compact with essential controls moved to the side for easy reach. When open, it offers a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display with a consistent aspect ratio across both screens.
The inner display is made of 10 ultrathin layers with a custom nano-texture finish that reduces glare. An under-display FaceTime camera stays hidden until needed. The phone has a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, scratch-resistant coating, and Ceramic Shield on the front and back. It is IP68 water and dust resistant.
Reimagined iOS
Apple says the posable design works with reimagined iOS 27 to create new experiences. The phone can be propped up in different orientations for viewing, typing, or hands-free video calls.
Landscape mode supports Split View multitasking, letting you run two apps side by side. Portrait mode offers a wider keyboard and more vertical space. A seated position sets the phone down for watching shows or following workouts. Standing mode activates StandBy for a bedside clock, photos, and widgets.
“Anything’s posable,” Apple says.
Camera Features
The iPhone Duo adds several new camera tools. Duo Preview and Kid Cue help everyone look their best. Duo FaceTime lets you include people around you in group calls. Smart Take allows you to be part of the moment instead of photographing it.
The camera system captures 48MP photos and 4K 120 fps video.
Performance and Battery
The phone runs on the A20 Pro chip with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, built for intensive AI workloads. An advanced thermal management system with a vapor chamber handles demanding tasks and gaming sessions.
Apple describes the battery as an “iPhone-first dual-battery system” paired with an internal space-saving eSIM design. The C2 modem delivers what Apple calls “groundbreaking efficiency.” Fast wired charging gets you up to 50 percent charge in around 20 minutes.

Software and Connectivity
The iPhone Duo ships with Siri AI, Apple’s new assistant rolling out in English. Apple Intelligence handles photo editing, Writing Tools, and Visual Intelligence. The phone supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G, and eSIM. Safety features include Messages via satellite.
Apple says switching from Android is easy, and that the iPhone holds its value longer than other smartphones.
Accessories and Buying
Two cases are available. The iPhone Duo Case offers lightweight protection in stylish colors. The iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand features a retractable kickstand for various viewing angles.
Apple is pushing its Upgrade program, which lets you lease a new iPhone with low monthly payments for 24 or 36 months. Trade In offers credit toward a new iPhone when you trade in an eligible device, including Android phones.
