Character actors are the FX’s Far Cry TV series is adding five more major names to its cast, and the lineup is starting to look like a who’s who make up the ensemble of a production, often playing supporting or recurring roles rather than leading ones.
Rob Mac, who serves as both lead and co-creator, has added a cast of familiar faces to the first season: Brendan Gleeson, known for The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges, Jennifer Jason Leigh, whose credits include The Hateful Eight, FX’s Fargo), Hamish Linklater (Widow’s Bay and Midnight Mass, Sam Spruell, who appeared in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and FX’s Alien: Earth, and Jamie Demetriou, best known for Stath Lets Flats and The Afterparty. Alongside Mac, the season also includes Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi.
Gleeson and Leigh Head the New Batch
Gleeson has built a varied career, which includes the films The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges. Leigh also has a broad background in both film and television, with credits such as The Hateful Eight and her ongoing role on Fargo.
Fans of Midnight Mass will recognize Linklater, while Spruell’s credits include A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and the FX series Alien: Earth. Demetriou is best known for Stath Lets Flats and The Afterparty.
Mac and the Original Crew
The project pairs Mac in the lead role with Noah Hawley as co-creator. It was first announced to be set up at FX in November 2025, courtesy of those two creators. No plot or character details have been revealed yet, though the show will take on an anthology approach similar to the Far Cry games, changing both its cast and setting with each new season.

Simon Emanuel joins as an executive producer, alongside Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television. FX Productions will handle production of the series.
