NBC and Peacock will air the Monday broadcast of the 78th Emmy Awards, which promises to include a “Charlie’s Angels” reunion, a potential “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” pairing, and a host of major names among its honorees.
Wednesday brought the announcement of the first round of presenters for NBC’s ceremony. The show airs live from the Peacock Theater at LA Live on Monday, Sept. 14, with the Eastern time start at 8 p.m. and the Pacific time start at 5 p.m.
The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reunion
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic ABC series, and the three leads from it are coming together to celebrate it. Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith will be sharing the stage for the occasion.
Earlier this year, the trio came together on a Hollywood stage for a PaleyFest panel marking the milestone. They will now repeat the reunion before the Emmy audience.
Gellar and Boreanaz Back Together
The presenter list includes Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz. Gellar was the leader of the original series, while Boreanaz played the role of Angel in the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff “Angel,”.
There’s no confirmation yet about whether the two will appear together on stage. Boreanaz is also there to promote his NBC remake of “The Rockford Files.”.

Beyond the “Charlie’s Angels” trio, Gellar, Boreanaz, Cardellini and Harbour, NBC and the TV Academy also announced these names:

Cardellini and Harbour’s Second Bow
David Harbour and Linda Cardellini of “DTF St. Louis” will also be presenting at the event. Harbour took home an Emmy last weekend for outstanding limited/anthology actor, while Cardellini was honored with outstanding limited/anthology actress.
The original plan was for those categories to appear during the NBC broadcast. Instead, they were shifted to Night 2 of the event, a change that drew some criticism. Their victories will now receive the attention they deserve at the main ceremony.
Cumming’s Busy Weekend
Over the weekend, Alan Cumming was given an Emmy for outstanding host of a reality or reality competition program. He remains a candidate for the reality competition Emmy, which will be handed out on Monday.
He has won five Emmys overall so far.
Field’s Record Chase
Sally Field has been named for lead actress in a limited/anthology series or movie. Over the weekend, her Netflix film “Remarkably Bright Creatures” took home the award for outstanding movie.
The athlete’s field is 79, and if she comes out on top, she will set a record for being the oldest champion ever in her division.
Zendaya’s Shot at History
Zendaya has earned a nomination for drama lead actress for “Euphoria.”. Should she take home the award, she would be the youngest person in history to claim three lead drama Emmys.
Hargitay Hosts
Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony. The “Law & Order SVU” star and executive producer won two Emmys over the weekend for her documentary “My Mom Jayne.”
The broadcast will be overseen by an executive producer team made up of Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment, with Hargitay also serving as an executive producer.
The ceremony caps a busy weekend for the TV Academy, which handed out many awards across two nights. Monday’s show will give viewers a rare on-stage reunion 50 years in the making.
