Daydream lets you shop clothes by uploading photos of outfits you already own

Daydream app uses Apple's new iOS 27 tools to let users shop outfits from their camera roll and talk to Siri about fashion.

Daydream, an AI-powered fashion discovery app, has added two new features that let iPhone users shop directly from their camera rolls and talk to Siri about clothes without ever opening the app. The updates use Apple’s new iOS 27 developer tools, which rolled out today, and they require an iPhone running iOS 27 with Siri AI enabled.

The app is free to download on iOS devices, and the new features are live now.

Shopping From Saved Outfits

The first feature turns your saved photos into a shopping list. Daydream analyzes an outfit in an image, breaks it down into its individual pieces — sweater, pants, shoes, accessories — and surfaces shoppable matches from its catalog of roughly 3 million products.

A screenshot of an outfit found on Instagram or Pinterest becomes the starting point. If the exact item is still available, Daydream can match it to the retailer selling it. If it’s no longer available, the app shows similar options instead.

The system also handles variations. “I like this sweater but want it in red,” is the kind of request Daydream can understand, according to Julie Bornstein, co-founder and CEO of Daydream.

Siri-Powered Voice Search

The second feature is a natural-language search function powered by Siri. Users can ask questions by voice or text without opening the app itself.

A user could say, “Hey, Siri, search Daydream for a cool blazer for my board meeting on Monday,” and get personalized results. The experience gets more tailored if users have set up Daydream’s “Style Passport,” which asks for sizes, preferred brands, personal style, and budget.

Why Daydream Says It Beats Google and Amazon

Daydream isn’t the only shopping tool on the market, but Bornstein argues her app has something others lack. She says most visual search tools don’t have fashion category expertise, so they return results that feel inaccurate, from brands that aren’t credible, or they link to nonshoppable images.

A Shopping Agent on the Horizon

Daydream sees these features as steps toward a bigger goal. The company wants to build a shopping agent that understands someone’s style well enough to work across every surface in their life.

“This is one step toward the bigger vision, [which is] a shopping agent that understands someone’s style well enough to work across every surface in their life,” Bornstein said.

The Numbers Behind Daydream

The app launched last year and says more than 1.5 million shoppers browse products from more than 325 retailers and 10,000 brands. Its retail lineup includes Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, Uniqlo, J.Crew, Reformation, Gucci, and Nordstrom.

How the Features Work Together

The two features share a common thread: both sit on top of Apple’s image-context capabilities, which do the heavy lifting of identifying what’s in an image. The app then maps those items to its own catalog of roughly 3 million products, where it finds matches, variations, and similar options.

What This Means for Shoppers

The new features lower the friction between seeing something you like and buying it. Instead of scrolling through a feed or typing a query, you can point the app at a photo or ask Siri a question.

The app is free to download, and the new features are live now.

The Ambition Is Real

Daydream’s shopping agent vision is genuinely ambitious. The company is trying to build something that understands your style across every surface in your life. That’s a tall order, but the steps they’re taking — image analysis, voice search, on-device intelligence — are real.

The launch fits into Daydream’s broader bet on AI-powered fashion shopping. The company sees these new features as more than stand-alone shopping tools. Its longer-term ambition is to build a shopping agent.
