For its 11th birthday, Discord did something unusual: it asked its users what they wanted, and built most of it. The platform has rolled out a large set of highly requested features, with even more upgrades now in development. Earlier this year, as part of its birthday celebrations, the company asked its community for feature requests, and the response was massive — millions of views on its posts and more than 3,000 responses. That prompted Discord to put together a dedicated group of engineers to tackle the suggestions.
What Users Asked For
A number of the requested features have already been delivered by the company. Below is a brief rundown of what was included in the final product.

The smaller updates complete the package. They let users change an image’s alt text or attach a spoiler tag after it has been sent, leave multiple inactive Group DMs at once, copy links straight from the GIF picker, and move fast to the top of a forum on mobile.
Bigger Group DMs and Hidden Badges
Some things did not make it into this batch. Two requests remain outstanding, still under work by Discord, though they did not arrive today.
The first is a bigger Group DM. The current limit is 10 people per conversation, and Discord confirmed it is expanding that cap. The company explained: “This is still being developed, so you may see an experiment for this rolling out your way soon.”
Discord is testing a feature that lets users conceal badges on their profiles, giving them greater command over what shows up there. This second feature is part of a broader set of profile improvements.
The Moderator Package
Discord has rolled out a package for server moderators. The update brings Mod View support for users who are no longer part of a server, whether they were kicked or banned. Alongside that, the platform has added role duplication and a new setting that limits member pruning to server admins only.
What Comes Next
These improvements are described by Discord as a partial list of what is on the way. Regular Patch Notes will keep delivering small updates, while bigger community ideas will help determine where the platform heads next.
The user base clearly had plenty to say, and Discord listened.
