TV’s Foundation is entering its fourth season, and the show is about to face one of the most tumultuous periods in Isaac Asimov’s books. That’s the pitch. But while the show prepares for the Mule and the mysterious Second Foundation, the mobile game Foundation: Galactic Frontier is doing something else entirely: it’s running a lunar excavation mini-game called Shared Moonlight.
The event is live now, and it spans two weeks across two sets of servers. Servers 1001–1016 get it from September 15–21, then it moves to Servers 1017–1247 from September 21–27. The game is a strategy title, and it’s built around lunar exploration, special currencies, and exclusive rewards.
Signing In for Basic Rewards
Shared Moonlight starts with a simple trick: players earn basic rewards just by showing up. Bingo Bash drops a board of objectives, rewarding finished rows and a grand prize at the end. The Moonlight Battlepass adds daily and target quests, awarding Moonlight Points that unlock milestone rewards.
Lunar Soil Prospecting is the headline act. It sends players into lunar ruins to dig through layers of soil in search of hidden treasure. Players pick a Grand Prize and work through as many as 100 layers to get it. Moonlit Treasures hands out Crescent Coins and Full Moon Coins, which trade for prizes through the Moonlit Market. Full Moon Charge-Up ties Purchase Points to daily prize drawings.
The Limited-Time Skins and Crew Picks
The biggest draw is the collection of limited-time cosmetics and crew rewards. Shared Moonlight offers an exclusive ship skin, name frame, Avatar Frame, and Killing Effect. There’s also a Festival crew choice letting players pick Holly Nico, Murphy Riley, or Boka Lape.
The event arrives alongside Galactic Frontier‘s broader September update, which introduces Season 2 testing and a new Combat Lab mode on select servers.
What the Books Actually Deal With
Asimov’s Foundation books span generations of psychohistory, a field of study founded by Hari Seldon. The show is indeed entering a period where Seldon’s carefully calculated course encounters threats he could never have fully anticipated. That’s the plot hook for the TV adaptation.
The game’s version of tumultuous is very different. It’s digging through 100 layers of lunar soil for treasure.
The Difference Between Tumultuous and Digging
The TV show is facing the Mule and the Second Foundation. The game is facing a moon. One is Asimov’s grand design. The other is a grindy reward track.
This is not a knock against the game. It’s a mobile strategy title, and limited-time events are standard practice. But the framing treats lunar excavation as if it were the Mule himself. It isn’t.
A Fair Way to Judge It
Here’s what the event actually delivers:
- Sign-in rewards
- Bingo Bash objectives
- Moonlight Battlepass quests
- Lunar Soil Prospecting with 100 layers
- Moonlit Treasures coins
- Full Moon Charge-Up drawings
- Exclusive ship skin, name frame, Avatar Frame, Killing Effect
- Festival crew picks (Holly Nico, Murphy Riley, Boka Lape)
That’s a lot of content for two weeks. It’s just not the same as facing the Mule.
“Foundation is headed into its fourth epic season, and is about to enter one of the most tumultuous periods in the books.”
Our Take on the Event
The event is what it is: a limited-time reward track tied to lunar exploration. The TV show is heading into a genuine turning point. The game is heading into a lunar ruin.
There’s nothing wrong with that. Mobile games live on events, and Shared Moonlight looks like a generous one. Just don’t confuse the two.
Players who enjoy grinding for cosmetics will find plenty to like. Those looking for the Mule will need to watch the TV show instead.
