A Road Win That Changes the Season
In conference play, first-year coach Will Stein notched his first road win with the win. Kentucky’s last victory over a ranked opponent took place nearly two years earlier, on Sept. 28, 2024, when they beat then-No. 6 Ole Miss 20-17.
Stein was effusive in his assessment of the performance. “This is what I expect us to do,” he said. “That’s how I expect us to play. That is the physicality, that’s the toughness, that’s the competitiveness, that’s the grit that I expect us to play with every single Saturday.”
What This Means for the Rest of the Season
The Aggies have another difficult test on deck, as they travel to LSU next week. The Wildcats, meanwhile, return home to Lexington to host South Alabama.
The Aggies have real questions now. Their defense struggled against a Kentucky offense that was far from dominant on paper. If LSU’s defense is better than Texas A&M’s, this could be a rough week for the Aggies.
