Last Seen doesn’t waste time hiding the answer. In Episode 3, it is confirmed onscreen that Sarah is Maggie. The Apple TV series spent two episodes building the suspense, and the writers chose to cut through it quickly.
Ian, a former detective turned dispatcher, has spent over a decade convinced his daughter Maggie is still alive. His suspicion gets a test when Sarah, daughter of Henry and Jenna, has a drunken flashback at a party and calls “000” for help, identifying herself as possibly “Mags.” By the time Ian reaches the phone booth she called from, she is gone.
Jenna’s Doubt and Henry’s Denial
Jenna confronts Henry about the truth, and he doesn’t deny it. He argues that Maggie’s parents are bad people — a drunk father and a sinner mother — and that the teen is better off with them. Jenna agrees.
Peake, who plays Jenna, sees the strain showing. “Jenna definitely tussles with it,” she tells TV Insider. “She’s really at this point where it’s starting to crack open.”
Cowell, who plays Henry, describes the opposite pressure. “I just can’t have it ever crack open. I have to patch up the walls even as the dam is bursting,” he says. “His greatest fear is coming true. And for Patrick’s character, his greatest fear did come true and now it’s flipping.”
What Sarah Thinks
Sarah is still unsure. Lourdes, who plays her, says they filmed takes where she wonders if Mags could be her sister, an old neighbor, or herself. “I think this deep-rooted feeling of unease is really what drove the general idea of what she’s feeling, even though she doesn’t exactly know,” she says.
She senses the lie, even if she can’t name it. “When someone’s lying to you, you can kind of feel it,” she says. “So you might not know what the truth is, but you know that the information you have is not 100% correct.”
The Uncle Who Found Her
Don, Sarah’s uncle and Ian’s sponsor, is the one who found her in the phone booth and brought her home to Henry. When the dispatcher tells him about the call, he puts the pieces together and calls his brother.
Henry insists Sarah is his daughter and tells Don to drop it. Losing Sarah would destroy both him and Jenna.
Mrksa, the writer and executive producer, describes Don’s position as a terrible, irresolvable dilemma. “He’s a guy who is, I think, ultimately a decent man, who desperately wants connection with family, who desperately wants to rebuild his relationship with his brother, but who also has a special sort of relationship with Jenna,” he says.

The Dilemma Ahead
Don’s situation is the engine of the season’s next arc. He is caught between loyalty to his brother and his own conscience. The show has set up a moral quandary that may not resolve cleanly.
The episode also shows Sarah turning to Tommy for answers. “They’ve always been 110% honest with one another,” Lourdes says, noting that Tommy offers a sense of grounding as her parents grow distant.
Last Seen continues Wednesdays on Apple TV. The show has confirmed the identity of Maggie, but the consequences of that truth are only beginning to surface.
