Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, head to Fleetwood for their fourth-round Carabao Cup fixture. Fleetwood, a League Two club, will be hosting the match at their home ground.
This is Fleetwood’s first-ever appearance at this stage, achieved with a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday evening. The reward is a home fixture against Mikel Arteta’s team, who defeated Ipswich Town 4-2 on Tuesday.
The Holders’ Fixtures
Manchester City, who hold the trophy, will play Brighton at Etihad Stadium should they get past Norwich in Thursday’s remaining fixture. The two Premier League clubs were drawn together for their match, with Chelsea’s Xabi Alonso returning to face his former club Liverpool.
That fixture between Manchester City and Norwich is the last remaining game of the round. Its result will determine which team plays at Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City hold the trophy and Brighton will be waiting.
The Rest Of The Round
Two League One teams, Bradford and Peterborough, secured spots in the next round by beating Leyton Orient and Barnsley in the third round, and now they play each other to decide which club goes through to the quarter-finals.
The remaining fixtures are all Premier League affairs:
- Fulham host Crystal Palace
- Bournemouth face Aston Villa at home
- Brentford travel to Sunderland
- Everton welcome Newcastle United
During the week starting on 26 October, the fourth round will begin.
The Week Ahead
Thursday’s Norwich versus Manchester City tie will determine who travels to Etihad. That result will shape the holders’ path through the competition.
