His statement focused on the human cost of the conflict. “With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom,” he wrote.
He added: “That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians’ right to freedom, dignity, and safety in their own homeland.”
Kraft’s Response
Kraft responded with a statement of his own. He committed $2 million toward humanitarian aid in the region, but he made clear that Sheeran had asked him first.
“Earlier today, before Macklemore challenged me to match his donation, Ed called me and asked me to commit $2 million to aid in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis,” Kraft said. “Ed now plans to reach out to other venue owners and our goal is to continue to work together to build bridges.”
Kraft framed the commitment as part of a broader effort to respond to the humanitarian crisis. He also addressed the criticism directly.
“I agree with Macklemore. Too many lives have been lost and there has been too much suffering, but only sharing selective information and ignoring the actions of Hamas is not honest and only advances more divisiveness and hate,” Kraft said.
