The Mashable 101 creator Grace Reiter, known for her videos that have developed into their own genre on TikTok, will appear as a featured player on Saturday Night Live’s Season 52, joining Studio 8H.
A year of expansion has carried her from posting viral videos to performing professionally on the comedy circuit. Her approach blends physical stunts, bodily humor, and frank admissions delivered with a strikingly cold gaze. Among the clips that shaped her online identity are a hopeful edit about her last clean pair of underwear and a skit where she pretends she’s on Love Island, attempting to sleep beside two Islanders who are “getting freaky.”.
From TikTok To Studio 8H
Reiter’s path to SNL started small. She told Mashable back in June that her comedy comes from a place of connection, not irony. “My comedy comes from a place of connection or reassurance,” she said. “Like, ‘Is this OK? … Do you guys think like this?’ And usually the answer is, yeah, I think like that. And yeah, I do that gross thing too.”
That honesty has built an audience across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. Haley Henschel wrote in Mashable’s profile that “‘Grace videos’ have practically become their own genre on TikTok” (where she has 3.9 million followers).
She has stepped outside her own channels and into television and theater work. She appeared in the live TikTok sketch show Stapleview, took a part in HBO’s The Chair Company, and performed in the off-Broadway Parent Trap parody Ginger Twinsies. Of those stage roles, she singled out one as one of her proudest recent accomplishments:
- “I used to believe I had stage fright,” she told Mashable.
- That role helped her overcome her fear of performing in front of an audience.
She will also be seen in the upcoming series Minimum Wage, on which she both wrote and directed.
The New Cast Member
Queens-based comedian and filmmaker Saidah Belo-Osagie is joining Reiter on the roster as a new featured player. Her credits include the short film Tinge, the event series Afrobeats Futura, and her solo show Saidah Gets Closure. She arrives at SNL during a season that started without a Black woman in the cast following Ego Nwodim’s exit.
Parody has long been part of Reiter’s own history. She created The Hunger Games (but Better) last year, a full-length parody made with friends, and it became a hit, reaching 13 million views on YouTube. She grew up watching YouTube parody songs and admiring that their creators were “just people making shit ’cause they can.”
