No new episode of Chad Powers lands on Hulu this week. Season 2 dropped all six episodes at once, and the finale aired last week.
That leaves fans hanging on a major cliffhanger. Coach Hudson (Steve Zahn) walked in on Chad and Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) kissing. Tricia (Wynn Everett) now knows Russ Holliday’s (Glen Powell) secret. And Russ and Danny (Frankie A. Rodriguez) are set to live with Tricia.
The big question: will Hulu renew the football comedy for a third season?
The Six-Episode Drop
Chad Powers Season 2 has six episodes, same as Season 1. But this time, Hulu released them all at once, a shift from Season 1’s weekly schedule.
There is no Episode 7. Season 2, Episode 6, “12TH QUARTER,” is the season finale. The show is a half-hour comedy, so the short season is by design, but it still leaves viewers wanting more.
The finale sets up several threads. Can the South Georgia Catfish win the National Championship? Does Coach Hudson realize who Ricky was kissing? And does he learn Russ Holliday has been catfishing everyone?
None of those answers are coming this week.
Renewal Status and the Wait
As of a week after Season 2’s premiere, Hulu has not officially renewed Chad Powers for a third season.
That doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Co-creator Michael Waldron has said he and Powell have ideas for three seasons. If given the chance, Waldron, Powell, and the team would love to keep making episodes.
The critical response may help. Season 1 scored a 60% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 earned a perfect, Certified Fresh 100%. Critics, including Decider, praised the shift in tone, the twists, and the cliffhangers that set up a third season.
There’s also precedent for a wait. Season 1’s finale aired in October 2025, and the Season 2 renewal wasn’t announced until December 2025. So a Season 3 announcement could take a few months.
What Waldron Says About Timing
Since Hulu hasn’t renewed the show yet, there is no Season 3 premiere date on the books.
But Waldron told Decider after Season 1 that he and Powell don’t want fans waiting years between seasons.
“We want to make it on time, on schedule. I don’t want this to be one of the shows that people have to wait forever for. There’s only it’s only six half-hour episodes. It’s not a long thing. We don’t want to withhold any longer than we have to.”
That quote suggests a prompt renewal could mean new episodes in 2027.
