Paul Wesley says there was something truly magical about having the full cast of Captain Kirk’s USS Enterprise together on set for the final episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The actor spoke to ScreenRant’s John Orquiola about his favorite time playing Kirk, and the chemistry between the assembled crew was the standout moment.
Wesley’s Magic Moment
Wesley revealed that the magic happened when the whole crew came together for the finale. He said: “There was something truly magical about having these characters on screen together. Our own version of it. When we were on set, I was like, ‘Wow, there’s something magical here. There’s something working.'”
He also noted that the chemistry was on point, adding that it matched the original series’ energy while bringing their own version to life.
The Full Crew
Paramount+ confirmed earlier that Thomas Jane will play Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy and Kai Murakami will appear as Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu in the final episode. That completes the main cast for Kirk’s ship, though Ensign Pavel Chekov doesn’t join until Star Trek: The Original Series season 2.
The rest of the crew is already in place:
- Ethan Peck as Mr. Spock
- Celia Rose Gooding as Lieutenant Uhura
- Martin Quinn as Scotty
- Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel
The Finale Details
The season finale is titled “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” and it will show Captain Kirk in command of his legendary starship. Footage of the episode appeared in the show’s San Diego Comic-Con sizzle reel.
The episode could serve as a proof of concept for Star Trek: Year One, the proposed continuation spinoff from executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers. The future of that project remains unclear.
The Future of Kirk’s Ship
If “Tomorrow’s Enterprise” is well received, it may nudge Paramount+ to bring Wesley and his Starship Enterprise crew back for more voyages.
Streaming Info
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 is streaming on Paramount+. The show wrapped filming last December, and the final episode brings the prequel’s “five-year mission” to its conclusion.
The series follows Captain Christopher Pike before he becomes the Enterprise’s commander, leading up to Kirk taking over the ship. Wesley’s Kirk evolves into the captain he’s destined to be across the season.
