Forza Horizon 6 now has a dedicated drifting mode, and it arrives with a new car, a new playlist, and a new season of rewards. The mode, called Drift Attack, functions much like the existing Time Attack system — you drive through a gantry in the open world, and the race begins. There is no additional loading screen or lobby to step through.
The mode has launched for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, built atop the established Shimanoyama Circuit, which already serves as the home track for Horizon Drift and the game’s Drift Zones. Just as in those earlier modes, points accumulate through familiar means, yet Drift Attack piles on a separate scoring system, with “Clipping Zones” markers placed around the course. Executing drifts inside these designated zones pushes your total score higher.
Drift Attack’s Home and Scoring
The in-world ranking system carries over from Time Attacks to Drift Attack, letting you check where you stand against friends and other players even before you cross the finish line. It is part of the Horizon Festival campaign, which opens up once you secure the yellow wristband. Finishing the Drift Attack Collection Journal tasks earns you the Drift Attack racesuit and helmet, plus a fresh addition to the lineup: the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition.
The Autoshow now carries a standard edition of the XJ-S, which every player may buy at any point. The vehicle is available for purchase rather than requiring completion of the Drift Attack assignments.
A new reward car called Drift Attack arrives alongside the launch of the Horizon Playlist Series 5, which is titled ‘British Automotive’. That series spans from September 10 through October 8, and it includes ten reward cars in total. Three of those cars are brand new to Horizon.
The Reward Cars of British Automotive
Players earn rewards according to the season they finish each car in. Certain cars demand 20 points, others ask for 40, and a few stretch across the whole ‘British Automotive’ series instead. The full tally breaks down like this:
The Summer Season offers two cars for players to earn points toward: the 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior with 20, and the 2021 McLaren 620R with 40. The Autumn Season brings a pair of vehicles, the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S GT with 20 points, and the 2021 MINI John Cooper Works GP with 40. The Winter Season adds another set, the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR with 20, alongside the 2016 Bentley Bentayga with 40. Then the Spring Season returns with two more entries, the 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 with 20, and the 2023 Lotus Emira with 40. Finally, the whole ‘British Automotive’ series is capped by the 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed with 80, while the 2019 Aston Martin Valhalla Concept Car earns 160 points across the entire ‘British Automotive’ series.
Across the whole series, the Valhalla Concept Car takes the highest number of points to unlock, needing 160 points. The Continental GT Speed follows behind it with 80 points. Every other car sits at a much lower cost, at either 20 or 40 points, depending on the season in which you complete them.
What Comes After British Automotive
The next series has been named ‘Horizon Meets’, according to Playground Games. It will include a temporary 7-Eleven Konbini evolving world feature, plus additional Eventlab content and new cars for Horizon. The specifics of those additions remain unannounced.
The Konbini feature is described as a “temporary” change.
How to Get Started
To get started with Drift Attack, all you need to do is locate the Shimanoyama Circuit in the open world, pass underneath the gantry, and the mode will launch without delay. The transition is seamless: there is no loading screen, no lobby, and no wait time whatsoever. You drive in, and the race starts at once.
These marked zones reward careful planning over reckless drifting. A drift inside one of these boundaries increases your score, which means players should no longer rely solely on keeping the drift button held down and hoping for good results.
The Drift Attack Suit and Helmet
The Drift Attack racesuit and helmet become available once the Journal tasks for the mode are finished. They are cosmetic rewards that come from completing the tasks, not from winning any of the races themselves.
The 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition is a new car for the game. It joins the Autoshow, where players can purchase it directly.
