A second super app has now been built for the world, and people are calling it World Money.

On Thursday, the firm revealed that World Money has expanded into over 150 nations, merging stablecoin payments, digital asset bonuses and trading within a self-managed app. Customers can deliver approved digital assets, which include stablecoins, to a recipient’s World username. They may also add suitable assets to collect rewards and trade digital assets via exchanges.

What World Money Actually Does

The app includes access to “Mini Apps” such as Kalshi, Credit and Morpho. A partnership with Stripe allows users to fund their accounts and buy stablecoins with Apple Pay, starting with users in the US.

World has been building out these features since the app’s May 2023 launch, when it combined World ID with a crypto wallet, stablecoin transfers and token trading. In October 2024, World introduced World App 3.0 as a “super app for humans,” adding third-party Mini Apps and a Vault feature for earning on assets. In November 2025, it piloted virtual bank accounts in the US before rolling them out to more countries a month later, converting paychecks and bank deposits into USDC.

World has moved its financial tools into a separate app. The company says its identity and financial services are now split across two dedicated apps: World ID App handles identity verification and credentials, while World Money provides wallet, payment and other financial features. Existing World App and World ID App users can carry their existing accounts over to World Money, according to the company.

Tools for Humanity, which was started by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, runs World Money. The firm builds tools for the World network.

Timeline of World’s Financial Expansions

Date Milestone
May 2023 World App launched with World ID, wallet, stablecoin transfers and token trading
October 2024 World App 3.0 launched as a “super app for humans,” adding Mini Apps and Vault
November 2025 Virtual bank accounts piloted in the US
December 2025 Virtual bank accounts rolled out to more countries, converting deposits into USDC
Thursday World Money launched in more than 150 countries

An approximate December 2025 marker is drawn from the source text, which means it stands as a rough indicator rather than a settled release date.

The Case for Two Apps

A case can be made for treating identity and finance as distinct functions. Identity verification carries a great deal of risk, and isolating it from a wallet containing assets may offer better protection against loss. No public explanation for the separation has been given by the company, but the division does exist.

World has spent years developing its financial features, and a standalone app would put all of them on display. That approach carries a strategic benefit. Still, it remains to be seen whether users prefer having two distinct ways into World’s services.

What Comes Next

World Money has already rolled out across more than 150 countries, with individual features differing from place to place. That uneven deployment signals the service will not launch in every nation simultaneously, a common approach for global tech rollouts.

Beyond the launch, the company has yet to announce a full roadmap. What is known is that World has committed to splitting its identity and financial services into two separate apps.

The fate of that pledge rests upon whether users wish to run two separate apps simultaneously. The firm has offered no word on how it intends to handle that conflict.

The firm’s current wager is that two apps are stronger than one. World Money stands as evidence of that gamble.
