Hazel and Byron
Cristin Milioti plays Hazel, a woman trying to get away from Byron Gogol, a tech billionaire played by Billy Magnussen. Their marriage lasted ten years, and the show spends its first season showing how Hazel got trapped in it before she ever knew the full extent of Byron’s hold over her.
Byron built a tracking device called Made for Love and had it implanted in Hazel’s brain without her consent. The device lets him track her location, watch her live, and access her emotional data. Hazel finds out about it as she tries to break free, and the discovery drives the show’s central conflict.
The Cast Around Hazel
Dan Bakkedahl plays Lyle Herringbone, and Noma Dumezweni plays Dr. Fiffany Hodeck. Caleb Foote joins as Bennett Hobbes, and Sarunas J. Jackson plays Jay. Ray Romano rounds out the main cast as Herbert Green, Hazel’s father.
The show builds around these characters, giving each of them a distinct role in Hazel’s attempt to escape Byron’s grip.
Season One and Two
The series premiered on April 1, 2021, with 16 episodes across two seasons. The second season followed in April 2022, after HBO Max renewed it in June 2021.
Despite strong reviews, the show ended abruptly. In June 2022, HBO Max canceled Made for Love after two seasons, citing the merger of WarnerMedia with Discovery, Inc., which formed Warner Bros. Discovery. The show left the platform in December 2022.
What Works
The humor lands. The horror lands too. The show balances a light tone with real fear without losing either side of itself.

Not every twist holds up. Some turns feel rushed, and the ending arrives before the story behind it fully settles.
