The official return of Battlestar Galactica is set for 2027, and the franchise’s toy line is already working on the ships that will round out its collection. Master Replicas has confirmed that four more Limited Edition Battlestars are in development for release across the second half of 2026 and into 2027, expanding a collection that has grown considerably throughout the year.

Fans are split on how the franchise’s next big screen outing should be handled. A number of viewers favor a clean start, while others hope for a follow-up to the beloved 2000s continuity. There are also those who feel the acclaimed Ronald D. Moore series concluded its story so well that another reboot would not be needed, and would likely meet strong disapproval from all sides.

The Ships Already Announced

At the start of the year, Master Replicas launched a four-ship collection: the Pacifica, Columbia, Acropolis, and Rycon. Among these, the Rycon stood apart for a specific reason. While many of the other releases drew upon expanded material, the Rycon was actually mentioned in the original television series as Commander Kronus’ ship.

More ships have since joined the existing vessels, including Galactica and Pegasus, expanding the larger classic Colonial fleet. Two likely members of that next four-ship wave have already surfaced since then.

Each of the Limited Edition Cerberus and Prometheus models is restricted to just 500 units and set to ship in October 2026. Neither vessel ever showed up in the original 1978 series. Master Replicas explains that Cerberus, Prometheus, and Solaria were names meant for extra Battlestars, should the show have kept going.

The Missing Ships

Solaria stands out as a particularly promising candidate among the remaining releases. The company has placed it alongside Cerberus and Prometheus in its own product descriptions, which strongly suggests its absence from the lineup.

Triton is clearly the other obvious candidate for a model. The original series mentioned eight Battlestars by name: Galactica, Atlantia, Acropolis, Columbia, Pacifica, Pegasus, Rycon, and Triton. Master Replicas has said it plans to release models of all eight, and Atlantia has already been given a 350-piece Limited Edition release.

The original-series lineup is missing Triton entirely, which makes it the most obvious absence.

Beyond the Original Continuity

Beyond the original Battlestar Galactica timeline, there is room for Master Replicas to pursue bolder options. One notable candidate would be the Valkyrie, a major 2004-series pick since William Adama led that vessel before becoming commander of Galactica.

For now, Triton and Solaria both match the company’s current classic-fleet plan, and either might end up among the Battlestars carrying the collection into 2027.

The Franchise’s Long Road Back

The official 2027 return gives fans something definite to look forward to, even as the franchise’s larger on-screen future remains uncertain. Few science-fiction properties have reinvented themselves as successfully over the years, with the 1978 original eventually inspiring the enormously influential 2003 reboot.

The argument over it has become even more heated since Peacock gave up on its long-planned new Battlestar Galactica series in 2024, leaving the franchise without any major television revival currently planned.

Some long-term viewers would prefer a fresh start, while others would rather keep the cherished continuity of 2000s intact and use it to explore a separate part of the galaxy instead.

What We Know So Far

Below you will find the current release schedule for the Battlestar Galactica collection from Master Replicas, laid out in chronological order by expected delivery dates.

Ship Units Release Window
Cerberus 500 October 2026
Prometheus 500 October 2026
Remaining two ships To be announced Second half of 2026 / 2027

While the company has not given a full rollout plan for the final two ships, its phrasing matters. These are four additional Battlestars, added to a line that has grown substantially across 2026.

The Fan Debate

The fan debate over the franchise’s future is unlikely to quiet down anytime soon. Some believe the 2000s series told its story so effectively that another reboot simply isn’t necessary, and would inevitably face harsh criticism across the board.

Some people want the series to keep its established path, while others want to venture into an entirely new part of the universe instead. The official 2027 return provides fans with a clear point of anticipation, even though the franchise’s broader on-screen future is still unclear.

What Comes Next

Battlestar Galactica fans can now see where things stand: the ships are being built, the collection is expanding, and the 2027 return has been confirmed. The toys are moving forward as planned.

The dispute about how that comeback should be arranged will persist, yet the studio has finally settled one matter: the series is indeed returning.
