“Avengers: Doomsday” has already pulled in $50 million in domestic pre-sales, three months before its Dec. 18 release date.
Wednesday saw Disney reveal the figure, with Walt Disney Company senior executive VP and CFO Hugh Johnston sharing the numbers at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.
More than 70% of those pre-sales are for Infinity Vision tickets. That’s a new certification for premium large format theaters, which Disney unveiled at CinemaCon. The studio says the format delivers “the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences” for moviegoers.
Russo Brothers Assemble a Massive Roster
The Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, direct the film, which gathers Marvel heroes from throughout the MCU into one group: the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the original X-Men, all united against Victor Von Doom.
Chris Evans comes back as Steve Rogers/Captain America, while Chris Hemsworth again plays Thor, with Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of the new Big Bad following Tony Stark/Iron Man’s death at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.”.
Letitia Wright takes on the role of Black Panther, while Paul Rudd plays Ant-Man. Sebastian Stan shows up as the Winter Soldier, Tom Hiddleston appears as Loki, and Simu Liu steps into the part of Shang-Chi.
X-Men Stars Make Their MCU Debut
“Doomsday” marks the official MCU debut for several Fox-era “X-Men” stars, following Disney’s acquisition of that studio.
Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, comes back for the sequel. The rest of the cast includes Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
The “Fantastic Four: First Steps” cast also returns: Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing.
Thunderbolts Join the Fight
The cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.

Marvel has also launched the “Countdown to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Official Podcast” ahead of release. It covers five films from the Infinity Saga, all available to stream on Disney+.
