BGA’s loss of 21 points to Milton (GA) a week prior had forced the Wildcats to sit idle the following week. Rather than allow that defeat to shape him, Bo chose to use that break to work through it.
“I’m super impressed,” Luke Bryan told USA TODAY Sports. “This being against a big rival during his senior year, he’s learning as he goes. Everything that happens to him this year is the first time he’s had all these pressure situations, all the ups and downs. He came out, we got behind and he threw a pick that turned into points for them.”

For him to come back out and do what he did tonight, he was phenomenal.”
The Comeback Begins
The Wildcats found their footing in the first half after the interception, trailing BGA by 10 points. It looked like another disappointing night was ahead for them. Bo then found his rhythm.
Late in the first half, he led BGA on a scoring drive, putting his team ahead. The Wildcats then took full command of the contest during the second half.
The Second Half Surge
BGA never let go of the lead after taking it, and Bo kept finding open targets throughout, with his coaches backing him on a fourth-down decision the whole way.
“You see the hard work that he puts in and you want the hard work to pay off,” Luke said. “Nights like tonight are when you get to celebrate that.”
Family Pressure
Bo sits under a heavier weight than most players. His father is a country star, which brings expectations along with it. Throughout the season, Bo has had to meet those expectations.
The first three weeks of the season produced steady results from Bo. Then the team suffered a 21-point loss to Milton (GA), and they had the next week off. Rather than letting that loss get to him, Bo and his teammates used the break to focus on practice and preparation.
“The main message following that game was to just learn from it, build off of it and to come out tonight and compete hard,” Bo said. “We play for each other and our team bonding is out of this world. We’re all so close and we know that we’re going to fight hard for each other every day.”
What Luke Saw
Luke Bryan has witnessed his son mature. The young man has been a two- or three-sport athlete throughout his life, and he is now starting to show promise as a quarterback.
The assurance was plain to see on Friday evening, as Luke reflected on what he had observed rather than numbers he could not recall. He noted that he could not quote the exact figures, but he had watched the big throws up close.
“I don’t know what the stats were tonight but to go out and see some of those big throws, those were some of the prettiest throws I’ve ever seen him throw and I’m just so proud of him,” Luke said.
The Winning Hug
The game-securing knee was Bo’s last one of the night, and after he took it, the first person he embraced was his head coach, Bobby Bentley. The entire team on the field shared in the elation that followed.
After BGA won the game, fans rolled out onto the field, and Luke was among the great number of Wildcat fans who celebrated there. One day after headlining a star-studded concert in Nashville and one day before he is set to perform in Wisconsin, Luke was simply like every other BGA parent in the stands watching their kids compete in a massive region showdown with FRA.
