Chipotle Brings Back Margaritas After Six Years, But Only at Five Restaurants Over Five Weeks

Chipotle revives its margarita for five weekends across five cities, one location at a time, before Halloween.

Chipotle is bringing its margaritas back for the first time in six years, but you can only get one if you happen to be near one of five restaurants in five cities over five weekends.

The fast-food chain announced its “Summon the Spirits Tour” on September 28. The drink will appear at just one location each weekend, one city at a time. That means the entire return happens across five stops, not at every restaurant in the country.

One Restaurant at a Time

The margarita will cost $6 and is made from five ingredients: premium tequila, triple sec, citrus juice, agave nectar and a fresh lime wedge. Each participating restaurant will serve the drinks from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time on Friday and Saturday.

The locations will set up dedicated margarita bars, add Halloween decorations, and offer interactive experiences and chances to win Chipotle prizes. Dallas gets an extra treat: a frozen version of the margarita will be served alongside the original.

The full schedule runs through October, with each city hosting the margarita for one weekend at a time.

Why the Margarita Left the Menu

Chipotle discontinued the drink some time ago, and fans have been asking for it back ever since. The chain says customers kept sharing old photos and videos of the drink even after it disappeared from menus.

“For five weekends, we’re giving fans the chance to rediscover the iconic Chipotle Margarita, made with just five real ingredients and the same simplicity we bring to our food,” Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing, said.

“Fans never stopped talking about our margaritas after they left the menu, so Halloween felt like the perfect time to revive a Chipotle classic.”

What the Tour Actually Does

The five-city, one-restaurant approach is a strange way to roll out a product. Instead of making the margarita available at every location, Chipotle is treating it as a special event. Customers have to plan around the tour’s schedule to find a restaurant that has it.

That is the catch. The margarita is back, but only for a few hours at a few places. If you want one, you need to check the calendar, pick a weekend, and hope you can get there.

Related Promotions

This is not the first limited-time offer Chipotle has run recently. In September, the chain celebrated National Quesadilla Day by giving customers in the US and Canada a free quesadilla with qualifying $20 digital orders.

That promotion followed a bigger move. Chipotle brought back Pollo Asado with a new recipe, paired with Chili Lime Chips, the first new tortilla chip flavor introduced by the chain.

The margarita tour arrives as Chipotle continues to roll out new items and bring back old ones.

Boorito Returns With a New Offer

The final stop of the margarita tour lands on October 31, the same day as Chipotle’s annual Boorito promotion. The chain has confirmed that Boorito will return with an in-restaurant entrée offer, though the full details remain set to be announced later in October.

What the Tour Looks Like

Here is how the five weekends break down:

  • October 2–3: Denver
  • October 9–10: Houston
  • October 16–17: Dallas
  • October 23–24: Chicago
  • October 31: New Orleans

The margarita tour runs through October. If you want a margarita, check the calendar and pick a weekend. Just be ready to plan around the schedule.
