Craftsman has a deal running on its 230-piece mechanic tool set, and the promotional copy states the offer expires Sept. 30. The set is marked down by $70, dropping from $199 to $129 at Amazon — a 35% saving.
Here is what you need to know before deciding whether this is a fix-it purchase or a passing fancy.
The Deal at a Glance
The Craftsman 230-Piece Mechanic Tool Set is currently priced at $129 on Amazon, a reduction of $70 off the standard price of $199. The sale is described as a 35% saving. The promotion states that the set will return to its full price of $199 after Sept. 30.
What the Set Includes
The kit covers a wide range of common repair tasks. The tools inside include:
- Sockets
- Ratchets
- Wrenches
- Hex keys
- Specialty tools
The set also comes with an easy-to-carry box that has built-in drawers and compartments, which should make finding the right tool for a job simpler.

The Bottom Line on the Tool Set
The Craftsman 230-Piece Mechanic Tool Set is a solid value at $129, especially if you own a car or have household repairs on the horizon. The kit is something every home should have, even if you are not a professional mechanic.
Why the Expiration Date Matters
Limited-time offers are designed to create urgency. In this case, the deal expires Sept. 30, and the promotional text itself says the set will return to its full price of $199 after that date. That makes the expiration date a central part of the offer, not just a detail.
The Final Word on the Offer
If you have been meaning to buy a mechanic tool set, this is the moment to move. The only question is whether you trust the calendar.
